We stopped by this place on our way to Bajawa, heading toward the village of Bena. The view was beautiful, the restaurant looked stylish, clearly trying to imitate European standards. We thought, great — we’ve been missing real food and were craving some proper pasta. We ordered a carbonara and a tuna pasta. Turns out they didn’t have the tuna pasta, so we went with two carbonaras.
What they brought us could hardly be called carbonara. It was just boiled noodles with scrambled eggs. No parmesan, no real flavor. Instead of a creamy sauce — just a beaten egg tossed in. The menu said it came with black pepper — there was none. My wife politely asked about it, they said “we’ll bring it now”… and never did. I had already finished my meal — still no pepper.
If you put “carbonara” on the menu, at least try to make something remotely close to it. Or just call it what it really is: “Indonesian noodles with egg.”
We decided to try a drink to make up for the food — saw cocoa on the menu and asked if it was real cocoa or instant powder. The answer: powder, like Nesquik. Seriously? On Flores, where cacao trees grow everywhere, where locals dry cacao in every village, and you’re serving instant cocoa from a packet? That’s not saving money — that’s just laziness and disrespect.
In short: a pretty place with zero substance. If you claim to serve European food — then live up to it. Otherwise, be honest and don’t mislead...
Read moreI thoroughly enjoyed my experience at this restaurant and have no qualms about it.
The restaurant is beautifully designed and aptly named for its stunning view. The ambiance is Mexican-inspired and is set up in a blockwise manner. I was hoping to dine outdoors, but unfortunately, the weather wasn’t cooperating.
I opted for the pork tacos (after asking for a number of other dishes first), which were quite good, but I felt they could benefit from a bit more flavor. On a positive note, the cocktails were excellent, and I particularly enjoyed the lychee one.
However, I was quite surprised to discover that it was lunchtime and that over half of the items on the menu were unavailable. It was quite disheartening. Initially, they informed me that one of the local dishes was still available, but after a while, they informed me that it had been sold out. I strongly recommend that the manager investigates this issue and ensures that the portions are appropriately sized, especially on weekends. After traveling so far from the town, it’s disappointing to find a restaurant that doesn’t offer good food that you can crave.
And the staff, I presume should be more calm and attentive. It’s good be happy go lucky, but laughing and giggling at everything your enquire...
Read moreAs recommended, we tried to go to this place. It's very far but the place is really nice. Especially when we open the door, as far as the eyes can see the beauty of Eastern Nusa Tenggara.
A nice place to hang out and to enjoy the magnificent view.
There is a beautiful garden at the back of the yard. With some spots to take pictures.
The toilet is decorated nicely, they are still preparing the rooftop at that time i guess.
However, it took some time to have the food prepared. Also, some of the food was running out and they didn't tell before hand. Coffee is good, i supposed it's Arabica Bajawa Coffee. And for me the taste of the food for a good place like that is just so-so.
Anyway, a must place to visit when you...
