Breathe Villa Meno — Hotel in Gili Meno

The number of mosquitoes was unbearable. Even with repellents, we were constantly bitten, leaving us with dozens of itchy welts. The semi-open bathroom made things worse—you couldn’t even use the toilet without being attacked by mosquitoes! My boyfriend got an allergy that landed us in a clinic. From the get-go, manager Adax greeted us with weird, unjustified superiority. He even made me move to another chair with my heavy backpack just because I was sitting in the one he apparently wanted. His attitude was artificial and sometimes even arrogant. Towards the last days of our stay, he completely disappeared. Meanwhile, some staff members occupied one of the villas themselves, drinking beer instead of attending to guests. During our last days there, often there was no one at the front desk when we needed assistance. The water in the shower and sink was salty, which was terrible for our hair and skin. After a few days, our hair felt dry and damaged, and our skin was irritated. Every morning at 4 AM, we were woken up by extremely loud religious chanting from a nearby mosque, sometimes lasting up to 40 minutes. It was impossible to get a good night’s sleep. The pool is tiny, more like a puddle, and nothing like the pictures. The hotel is also far from the sea, and the walk there is a nightmare—muddy paths that are impossible to cross with luggage, or you have to rely on overworked horses pulling carts. Experience was terrible. Adrien was very friendly at first but when we arrived to our villa it was filled with ants/bugs my girlfriend and I went out for the day thinking maybe they would get rid of them or they would go away at night. Once we came back to our villa it was even worse, there were spider webs/spiders I ended up killing six but many of them were above our heads where I couldn’t reach and on the mosquito net where you sleep. Once we went to sleep sometime around 5:00am the music/ singing from the mosque was blaring. The speaker must be really close to the villas. It went on for quite some time. In the morning the ants were back again and I was full of bites, I slept in long pants and a t-shirt knowing there were bugs.The A/C and shower also ended up turning off due to powering going out but sometimes that’s what happens so I’m not upset about that.....My girlfriend and I decided to cut our stay at Breathe Villa short due to the cleanliness being terrible. Once we contact them via WhatsApp Hannah the other host decided to have a “chat” with us where she was very unhappy with us and told us to” stay where tourists go, and we don’t belong in the island that bugs will be there” she was extremely rude when we wanted to leave her villa a day early and wanted to stay somewhere else,when should should of apologized and tried to fix the cleanliness of the villa. When going to bed we noticed the sheet above our heads was stained and each corner of the bed sheet had spider webs and spiders. The room had ants everywhere on the floor as well. When going to bed I noticed all these spiders I notified the host and he said they are done for the day and will clean it up tomorrow. I had to go to bed sleeping uncomfortable knowing there’s spiders above my head. I killed a few but they were fast. My boyfriend got bite from some spiders on his arm. The following day the water, WiFi and A/C wasn’t working, I’ve decided to cut my trip short by a day and leave, I talked to Hannah if she can give me a partial refund since I’m not staying at her Villa anymore her answer was, “No you’re in an island what do you expect, namaste” and I told her I still expect to go to bed with no spiders and clean sheets regardless if I’m in an island or not. Im not one to complain about the little things but this place had a lot of things that were not clean. Hannah the host also told me” I should go to Bali where all the tourists are, because I can’t handle the island” the only thing I really care about when coming to my villa is cold a/c a shower and it to be clean.
