This might’ve been a great resort but now it’s in a very bad shape and heavily overpriced. Also every question we asked was received as if we were asking too much and as if we were annoying. The cabin walls have cracks, shower heads have to be hand held, shower knobs are rusted and so moldy they’ve turned green. The water from the tab and shower is slightly salty. Food is OK’ish but far from what you’d expect for this pricing. We stayed in a place a third of the price and had better food. The only cold drinks they had were tonic, beer and sprite. Nothing else not even for kids. Rooms are not cleaned daily but every three days. We asked one day for it to be cleaned but they didn’t. At the end we received a invoice that was unclear and even stated things we had already payed. Avoid this place if you can and experience the fantastic underwater world with another resort.

The atmosphere was really relaxed. From travel mode,we could really switch towards relaxing. The staff (Fi, the singing lady's and helpers on the boat) are really nice and helpful with a lot of humor. Just for Fi we would come back😉 The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Everyone worked hard to keep the hole area clean. The food was really good, and they tried to make every mail different 👏 Then the diving, one of our reasons to be there. The owners Fu and David run the dive school with great passion. David was also our dive instructor. He is super relaxed, but doesn't miss anything what we did wrong 🫣or good😅 We couldn't wish for a better instructor ( Thanks). Bunaken is a wonderful place for snorkling or diving

Duikersparadijs!

This is the most horrible place I have ever been so far. Dirty room without room service, always empty plates for buffet, repeated dive sites with no fun, no service at all. Terrible is a word not even enough to describe the place. Will never come again. We came for a diving trip as a family group, but experienced the worst ever trip in my entire life.||||1. Diving is so boring||There are 41 dive sites drawn on the map, however, it is only a lie. Whenever the group was asking for a site off the island we stayed, the dive center manager will always find endless execuses to say no. Starting from saying you need to pay more, well yes, we were willing to pay extra. Then saying the weather is not good, ok, we could go on next day. Then saying you do not have enough people, yes, because people were bored to death and start quitting diving. Then saying how many tanks did I have, well, I had 50+, the jk manager told me you need 200+ tanks to go -- for Manado? 200+? Are you kidding me? So we were ending up with going nowhere but only around the Bunaken island repeatively. ||OK, even for this island, there were 18 sites and we have 15 dives. The dive guide was keeping briefing us to same site we just went in previous days, and it gave us such a hard time to negotiate for a new site.||||For divings, all coral walls, no fun at all. The guide only slowly swim at 10 meters, without looking after the team, no checking at no dec time, never actively engage the team. I was performing as a Dive Master to look after the team. So who's doing whose job?||||2. Food||Even though we signed up for full day 3 meals buffet, none of us were happy about the food. They only brought out a few food, not enough for 4 people.. Always a long queue waiting for new food coming, but always only brought in a tiny bowl that only enough for 2 people at most. Coming 5 min late, you have no meat, only empty plates on table, as buffet -- all you can eat, is just rice, till you full.||Besides, their milk is mixed with 4x of water. Extremely diluted.||Well, I guess they considerated our health? tried to put us slim?||||3. Dirty Room||Very dirty room. No cleaning at all for the whole week we stayed. First time ever I saw a resort claiming they only change towels after 3 days, but not actually happening even after 4 days! Towels were all smelly like dead fish. So I was sleeping on the same blanket for ever. ||Never refill enough shampoo for 2 showers. Body wash bottle was broken from the beginning. And their hot water was only served till 9pm.||So many bugs and insects clambing every where. We even killed a giant centipede in the middle of the night! Such a horrible place!||||4. Fake room type||So-called "Ocean view" room is just letting you facing a small pod of water with many trees. No sand beach, no real ocean view at all. Their water entrance is just a small water port, and you have to step into the water to get on the island. No stairs, no dock. Get prepared to get wet.||||5. NO Service||NO service at all. This is the worst place I have been, not even comparable to a 2 star hotel. The servants were always giving us a poor face, looking like we owe them a million. No service.||||Complained to their site manager and even to their boss who opened this place directly, well well, what I got was only fight backs, always had execuses (similar as we can see how they responded in previous reviews), and in the end, always fault on ourselves! Only see execuses and lies to cover their own mess. Never seen such things! We paid them well, great tips, but the whole group had 0 satisfaction. Wished we never came. Completely waste of...

Overall, our experience was very disappointing. We couldn’t relax and felt constant pressure because the hotel manager kept promoting diving activities, even though we wanted to use this time to rest. We understand that it is natural for a diving hotel to promote its diving activities, and I know there is a beautiful underwater world here. If all plans had gone as expected, the flight had not been delayed for two days, and my health was good, we would have booked these activities without hesitation. But when plans are disrupted, my health must take priority. I want to emphasize again that vacations are meant for relaxation. Our stay began with significant difficulties as our flight was delayed by two days. We originally booked from August 2nd to August 6th, but actually arrived on August 4th. We informed the hotel of our delay in a timely manner and confirmed that we would not change our reservation, even though this meant we had booked four nights but could actually stay only two. We were willing to bear the cost of the unused nights, as this was not the hotel’s responsibility.During our two-night, three-day stay, the following issues occurred:During the trip, I fell ill and needed medication. Despite my poor health, the hotel repeatedly asked if I wanted to participate in various activities, including diving courses, and constantly reminded me to watch the related diving course videos, which added extra pressure on me.Regarding dolphin watching, we had agreed that if we wanted to participate, we would meet in the restaurant before 8 am; if not, we would not show up. (The dolphin-watching excursion was already booked by a family. They are four people, meeting the payment requirement. Therefore, our absence would not affect their trip. )However, at 7:40 am on the day of the excursion, someone knocked on the door to remind us about dolphin watching, which was not according to our agreement. Fortunately, we had decided the night before to participate. Additionally, we were not informed that we would need water shoes for the activity, and we found that other guests were wearing beach shoes while walking a long way back through the water to the hotel. After the activity, the management asked us if we had seen pilot whales (especially related to dolphins) because the captain had reported this to her, but the captain did not provide us with any relevant information during the trip.Due to health issues, I decided to cancel the diving course, but despite my explanation, the hotel continued to suggest I participate in snorkeling.Regarding dining, the food was delicious, but all portions were limited. Each person was assigned a fixed amount of food. When I was still hungry and asked the waiter if I could have more, I was refused. Even though we had booked full board, on the last day, we were told that lunch would require an additional payment of 190,000 Indonesian Rupiah per person. Management explained that we had eaten a lunch on the arrival day (August 4th) that was not actually included, even though we had paid for the hotel from August 2nd. This forced us to discuss with management which services should be included. Upon checkout, we were also incorrectly charged for snorkeling, even though we did not participate. When asked why I didn’t snorkel after watching the dolphins, I had to explain again that, due to health reasons, I had to avoid the sun, so we waited on the boat...

Bunaken is part of 5 islands, belonging to the Bunaken National Marine park, a UNESCO World Heritage conservation area. We probably have seen there the most beautiful corals / marine life during our 2.5 weeks trip around Indonesia (Komodo/Seraya/Bali) owing largely to the location/currents swirling around the island. The resort is 10mins by speed boat from Manado (20mins by normal boat), in addition to the 45mins drive from the airport.||We got to Bunaken Village directly from the boat, and were greeted by friendly resort operations manager ViVi. Together with Xu Jin (resort owner), the two women team was extremely friendly, and we loved spending time and chatting with them throughout our stay.||The resort is nestled within a tropical forest and designed very much in harmony with surroundings. The accommodation itself is very nice, family friendly. Pretty clean bungalows, only 8 rooms in the resort. No air-cons, but a huge fan, which is adequate. At night, just a few meters out of the resort, we witnessed an amazing fireflies lit tree, a natural wonder and a spectacle to match the stars strewn night sky.||The coral reef is about 150m from the resort, so you need to take into account the water level/currents when snorkelling (Vivi and Xu Jin will help you explaining what is the best way to get to the reef at different times of the day). Our son went diving with the resort instructors. Everyday, we saw amazing marine life in the coral reefs; beautiful fish, tonnes of turtles and even dolphins. The colours were amazing.||The food was very tasty, mixture of Indonesian/Chinese, we loved eating their breakfast/lunch/dinner. The menu is fixed, but changes everyday, and you just sign up as you go along.||The village of Bunaken is 20mins walk away, worth visiting to see the locals and the mixed life or Christians and Muslims. The people are super-friendly and at the time we were there, there were very few tourists. (The village itself is a good location for those travelling on the budget - almost every house offers a room, very inexpensive.)||Overall, we loved the place and the people, and it was a good value for money too. We would love to...
