We loved our stay here, stayed for 5 days in total and with a scooter found it was a goid base to explore the island!! It was peaceful, away from all the madness and excellent value. The staff were amazing, breakfast was simple but good. We almost stayed somewhere else due to a couple of bad reviews, but glad we did stay here. The problems people listed have either been fixed or the classic..... people expecting the Hilton at a budget price. We stayed in one of the wooden bungalows. It was in an area of Crystal Bay in a small, quiet village surrounded by forest. Couple of good restaurants close by, very basic convenience store, no shops or people hassling you or trying to sell you stuff, easy access to Crystal bay...was Perfect!!! The room & bathroom were massive, so much shelving, very clean, recently painted, new super comfortable bed, new clean bedding, room was made up everyday (didn't have to request). Crystal bay is an easy 5 min walk. If you go in the morning before 9 you will have the beach to yourself. Snorkelling was really great along the left hand side near the cliffs (if you're a good swimmer - 50-100m off the beach near where the boats are). So many different fish and saw turtles everyday. Staying there also gives you a short walk the most amazing sunsets every night. Riding a scooter anywhere on Penida is recommended. Hiring cars is expensive, take a long time to get anywhere and will not give you access to spots early before the crowds (and cars) all arrive. We rode to Kelingking beach at 6.30am arrive at 7am with no traffic on the roads. We had the place to ourselves, was amazing. We did the challenging hike down the beach, cant recommended it enough. You will need to be fit and wear shoes. Unfortunately it's illegal to swim there now as people who can't swim decide it's a good idea to...
Read moreIt is definitely a budget option. Room had running hot water, working ac and clean bed. Unfortunatelly there was no fridge in the room (we could use the one in dinning area) Regarding cleanness the room could definitely get some proper wipe down. Please note that place does not offer complemetary water so make sure you buy some on the way. During the night the dogs were barking loudly and woken us up few times. It is around 10 min walk to the beach from where you can see nice sunsets and there are some warungs and shops. Breakfast was ok, nothing special but tasty. Staff was helpfull, arranged packed breakfast for us and helped to find driver to...
Read moreI stayed in Puri Yalus for over two weeks. Very beautiful bungalows, entirely made out of palm wood and bamboo. Comfortable bed, clean room, beautiful garden, yummy breakfast. The place is owned by a friendly local family, with a lot of heart for the place. The owner Komang told me about the history of his family’s land, the island of Nusa Penida and Indonesian culture. For me, my first weeks in Indonesia couldn’t be any better.
If you are looking for a safe, comfortable place to explore the island from. If you enjoy staying in nature and are interested in experiencing local jungle village vibes, I highly recommend this one!
Thanks for...
