Crystal Bay in Nusa Penida is a must-visit spot, especially if you're exploring the island with your family. We spent an entire day here with our two kids, and it was a great experience overall. The beach is famous for its stunning turquoise water, but be aware that the ocean can get quite wavy, which may not be ideal for very young children. Depending on the tide, the experience can vary—low tide reveals more of the sandy shore, while high tide makes the waves more pronounced.
One of the conveniences is the availability of sunbeds, which you can rent for 200k IDR. This is a bit on the expensive side, but it's worth it if you plan to spend a few hours relaxing. There are also plenty of warungs (local eateries) lining the beach, but they all offer similar menus—typically a choice between fish or chicken with rice or noodles. While the food is decent, it’s a bit pricey compared to other parts of the island.
The entry fee is quite affordable at just 5k IDR for parking, making it accessible for everyone. Given that Nusa Penida doesn’t have a ton of tourist spots, Crystal Bay stands out as one of the top destinations on the island. Whether you're there to relax, swim, or just enjoy the scenery, it's a beautiful spot that’s definitely worth a visit. However, do manage your expectations regarding food options and the cost...
Read moreBeautiful spot on the island. But if you go there on the scooter by your own be ready to have a real adventure on the narrow road with crazy ups and downs. In the afternoon there is a heavy traffic so there are some points with ups and downs and curves where local people are trying to coordinate the traffic themselves due to the zero visibility to avoid accidents. Be careful if you are on a scooter. As for the beach, you can hardly find a place to chill because the sand part is quite narrow and it is full of deck chairs. We’ve been there on a windy and a bit stormy day and booked the manta snorkeling trip with a small boat directly from this beach. My recommendation is to always inform yourself about all the peculiarities of the trip before paying. Because once paid, the guys offering the trip want to do it fast and don’t explain anything. It will take you 20mins on boat to get to the Manta Point from the beach. If stormy, take a pill if you get dizzy, because as for me, it was a vomiting experience with a crazy headache. Take a lifesaving jacket, even if you normally do snorkeling without it. When stormy, it is quite complicated and stressful without a jacket.
As for the beach itself, there are strong currents so it is hard to snorkel...
Read moreThe beach gets 5 stars from me, the nature the water and the sea life is breathtaking, but the locals have kind of destroyed the vibe, we had to pay 400k just to get on a seat in the shade, all fair if you dont want to use it i mean its their business and they can make the price, but then they go and pack 90% of the beach with these chairs and umbrellas leaving 10% for the tourists to use and if you dare lie to close to the table they come and ask you to please move further away, this takes the whole feeling of a open nature beach down the drain people were packed against each other in a small open space on the beach just to avoid getting ripped of by the price these guys are making, in the time we were there we were asked to move twice, because as the sun moves across the beach so does the umbrella shade so as the shade comes closer to you, you have to pack up your stuff and move another 2 meters away🤯😲 as if you made the sun move, i mean this is a bit over the top....please if you can not reduce your prices atleast give the tourist some space to use on the beach to enjoy nature and the view without someone rambling down your throat about you taking half a meter of sun closer...
