This is well appointed 3 Star Hotel at a very good price with a very beautiful ballroom. The Wi-Fi and internet connection speed is excellent. Kodos for that!
There is breakfast included but it.mostly only caters for Indonesian pallets with the usual assortment of rice and noodle dishes There is toast bread and kaya, no jams. They serve nice fresh fruit. There are smoker and non-smoker rooms with a good size.
The appointment of the property is evidence that this house used to be one of the better hotels in town. However, the lustre of past luxury has faded quite a bit, due to a distinct lack of attention to detail in maintenance and is in evidence all over the hotel. This, combined with an obvious lack of enforcement of a minimum cleanliness standard by the management reduces the enjoyment of the stay somewhat.
Here are some highlights. When you enter the lobby and have to wait for attention by the receptionist, you will refrain from sitting down on the heavily stained gray couch in front of the reception desk.
The rooms are superficially clean But again one can't fail to notice a power socket with a broken cover and a hole big enough ro touch live wires behind it. A wiggly contact in the Heath-Robinson style wiring to connect the bedside lamp into the power socket underneath the power socket cover rounds off the impression. In another room, the twist knob on the bedside lamp is missing all together and the lamp is not usable. A phone call to reception remains largely.unanswered. promises to send an engineer remained mostly that - promises. Although the rooms are big enough to allow for wheelchair access, the doors are too narrow to get through. When asking for a shower stool to be able to shower sitting down, there is only the usual regretful "Sorry Sir".
The aircon unit struggled for 2 days to.bring the temperature down to below 28°C, but eventually got there. For the entire 3 day stay I did not see any room service.
So, if you are on a budget and want a reasonably good room for a good price. This hotel is great. In the end you get what you pay for and this is a pretty...
Read moreI’ve stayed at New Hollywood Hotel twice already, and I honestly find it one of the most comfortable options in Pekanbaru for the price. While it’s a few kilometers from the city center, the comfort more than makes up for it.
The room design is modern, clean, and nicely renovated—feels like they just redid everything not too long ago. Furniture looks new, and amenities are complete, even including a hairdryer in the bathroom, which is rare in this price range. The bed is super comfy
A couple of downsides to be aware of:
The hotel is just a few buildings away from a bistro/pub/cafe, and you can hear the music beats inside your room until midnight.
The spa and fitness area are not included in your stay—you’ll need to pay extra if you want to use them. Also, they only open around 11 AM, so don’t expect an early morning workout.
The reception staff could use a bit more training. During both my stays, they seemed more focused on joking with each other than handling check-ins professionally.
Still, if you’re looking for a clean, newly renovated room with great comfort, this is a solid option—a step above most other hotels at this price point...
