Beautifully located and nestled in lush nature with astonishing view into the greens of rice fields - all with a jungle feeling… BUT the hotel needs an update - as wooden floors on the outside area are rotten, we found broken tiles at the pool area and the overall condition of amenities is poor (ie restrooms). In this price category in Bali other resorts do far better. In this respect Adiwana Dara Ayu might lose clients fast and soon - even though potential is enormous due to location.
Cleanliness :( Especially cleanliness was not satisfying - windows and mirrors were smudged, curtains and ceiling fan dirty and the mosquito net was neither clean nor in proper condition - there were holes and wordt of all: poop stains visible (yes, geckos and lizards poop on the nets because they also live in the villas - which is rather normal … - but poop stains is a no-go. We also asked housekeeping to change our net because there was fresh poop on it, however housekeeping just did a bit of cleaning - not too well - and did not exchange the net :/). also pillows for sunbeds were dirty, the towels for the pool area were in very very poor condition (bleached out, holes), the decorative table mats at breakfast and dinner showed mold, cups at breakfast had stains… we also found several dead animals (frogs, snakes, fish) in the various ponds (which were removed after two days). All in all we did not feel too comfortable because of missing the ‚clean-feel‘.
What also should be improved is work on privacy protection - as bathrooms are outdoors, guests desire to have some privacy. From the balcony of our room we were able to see straight to the neighbouring villas pot - also sight protection in our bathroom could have been managed better (self-made bamboo mats/ palm leaf mats were installed, but were not well attached due to weather conditions).
Communication & Service :/ The telephone in our villa was broken, thus we were not able to communicate with front desk - after we told staff about it, the telephone was removed and not replaced… overall communication with staff was difficult due to language issues and (non-)availability - best time to get in touch with someone was during breakfast. Despite two staff members we had the feeling that people were not very ambitious and engaged.
Upon arrival (we arrived 7-ish pm) we had to register online, there was no explanation of anything - neither times for breakfast nor anything else on the resort - but there was also no folder or information available at the room….
When we needed service concerning transportation, staff was very helpful - costs for transportation in comparison to other places we have been to are touristy but ok-ish.
Food: Food is ok, kitchen chef is very lovely and ambitious on local dishes - however this is not a place for high expectations on food or anything fancy. Temperature on dishes was low - ‚sauce hollandaise’ on egg benedict need big improvement - or stick with local dishes! I have to admit that I am very picky on food, thus this review might come harsh…
Overall: In the condition the hotel is now it is not worth the money spent. Some quick fixes, overall price reductions might help until restauration...
Read moreTwo stars for the view and staff.
During our recent stay at the Adiwana Dara Ayu Villa in Bali, we had high hopes given the breathtaking views and the welcoming pool area that initially met our eyes. The villa, set amidst the lush Balinese landscape, promised an idyllic escape. The dedicated and hospitable staff, despite being limited in number, also strove to provide a pleasant experience.
However, our initial enthusiasm quickly waned as we encountered a series of disappointments. The most prominent of these was the food. Despite commanding premium prices that far exceed what one would pay in town for outstanding local cuisine, the food quality at Adiwana Dara Ayu was deeply disappointing. It resembled something you'd expect from a microwave meal rather than a high-end resort.
The villa's remote location, a good 30-40 minutes from the nearest store or town, compounded our dissatisfaction. This distance not only made it challenging to explore local attractions but also left us reliant on the disappointing on-site dining options.
Our discontent deepened as we encountered maintenance and cleanliness issues within our room. We were appalled to find two cockroaches, one lifeless on our pillow. Stains that appeared to be dried blood on our sheets greeted us on our first night, a sight that no guest should ever have to see.
The overall cleanliness of the villa left much to be desired. The pool and patio furniture were visibly dirty and stained, and our room lacked adequate lighting. The bathroom was devoid of hand soap, a basic amenity that one expects in any accommodation.
In terms of amenities, the Adiwana Dara Ayu provided a hairdryer that was not only dirty but also malfunctioning. The lack of an adjustable setting rendered it essentially useless.
For a villa charging over $120 a night in Bali, providing powdered coffee for breakfast one day which felt like a slap in the face to the rich local coffee culture.
The villa also imposed several surprising upcharges, such as additional fees for food delivery to our room or poolside, and a whopping 21% service charge applied to all food orders.
Our attempt to rent a scooter from the villa added to the long list of disappointments. After waiting a day for the scooter to arrive, we found it had near-flat tires. The provided helmets were dirty, damp, and inhabited by spiders – a clear sign of neglect.
Even the physical state of the villa was disappointing. Paint was peeling off the walls, revealing patches of mold.
The Adiwana Dara Ayu Villa has enormous potential, with its stunning location and views. However, this potential is wasted due to a startling lack of care and attention to basic maintenance and guest satisfaction. It is indeed a shame to see such a beautiful place fail to deliver the quality experience it promises. A serious reassessment of its management and maintenance practices is...
Read moreMy friends and I was supposed to stay at adiwana dara ayu villas inbetween the dates 23/9-26/9. When we arrived there the 23rd the first thing we did was to inspect the villa. We noticed that the hygiene was poor, with many stains on the bedding, etc. We have videos showing that the mosquito net had several holes and did not cover the entire bed. When we checked the beds, we found numerous signs of bedbugs all around. We have both pictures and videos of this.
When we spoke to the hotel staff about the problems, they said they could clean the mattress a bit more. We explained that this would not resolve the issue, as bedbugs live inside the mattress, and you need to use pesticides or replace the mattress. They didn't seem to understand and told us the only thing they could do was to clean the room. We then stated that we could not sleep in a bed with bedbugs and would like a refund if they could not resolve the issue another way. The staff said they could not help us with that either and asked us to contact Booking.com.
I was unable to reach booking.com by phone. I then tried to contact booking.com by the app for further guidance, but it took time to get a response. We eventually had to leave as we could not sleep in beds with bedbugs. We talked to the staff and returned the key. They continued to say they could not help us and that we had to contact you at Booking.com. We took a taxi and booked new accommodation through booking.com so they could see that we are leaving for another place to stay.
After a day we finally received a response from booking.com, that stated that they could not assist us and that we should contact adiwana dara ayu villas, which had already made it clear they could not help us either. We noticed that where redirected us back and forwards, leaving us stuck in a loop where no one could assist us.
We wrote to adiwana dara ayu villas as booking.com stated that we should contact them again to resolve the matter. But now a week have gone by and they have not responded.
I would really not recommend anyone to stay at adiwana dara ayu villas. The location may be beautiful, but that does not make up for the lack of help we have gotten from the staff at adiwana dara ayu villas and booking.com. But also the fact that they don't seem to know how to deal with bedbugs, which is worrisome.
Booking.com has also not made it impossible for us to leave a review about the hotel via their app and website, so we now have to turn to other sites to...
