I want to give a concept rating for this villa 10/10. It's a beautiful and green accommodation with a sustainable concept in Kintamani, Bali. Behind the idea of sustainable accommodation, it blends nature and culture themes, using recycled materials such as reclaimed wood and bamboo from local craftsmen in Bangli to minimize the use of paint and preserve the surrounding environment during property development. Additionally, they collaborate with the local community (landowners) to build the Calidas Hill brand. In this case, for 20 years, the Calidas Hill location has not been rented but follows a cooperative system where the proceeds are shared monthly with the local community. Dinner here is also delicious, and there's a cute bathtub in front of the house, allowing you to bathe while enjoying the view of Mount Batur and Lake Batur. You can also enjoy movie nights with the projector they provide. Oh, I almost forgot, you can also make a small bonfire inside the house for warmth.
As for the experience there, maybe it deserves a 6/10 rating. Because this villa is new, they still have a lot to improve. Firstly, there's an issue with the abundance of flies, which is quite bothersome. I don't know how, but it's something they need to work on. Secondly, water availability is also something to be considered. During my stay, the water was unavailable from 6 pm to 9 am (I checked out at 9 am, so I'm not sure if the water had been restored by then). Lastly, it would be great if they could provide parking for motorcycles/cars below so that people can trek comfortably to the villa location without having to drive on slightly steep, sandy, and accident-prone roads.
Well, I hope the management can continue to improve. Because honestly, I really love the concept of this villa. It's very sustainable and suitable to be a pioneer of sustainable...
Read morethe view almost compensates ali the shortcomings. It's truly epic. Nevertheless, hosts can improve many things As can read from previous reviews that there still few broken things that haven't been fixed. Many items are not in good condition. And the suprise of our stay was that the stove glass exploded in the morning just by heating 2 rings. Of course, it was very shocking We immediately contacted the host and send pictures. The host apologised for incident and as compensation offered us late check-out that was nice. Because never finished cooking breakfast anyway But the most shocking part was that the host in our communication never mentioned that it could be our fault, and we would be held responsible for this. And of course it can't be. But after the checkout, as a suprise host, is making claim in airbnb that we should reimburse the cost...
Also was disappointing that in pictures the bonfire is inside, but in reality the staff offered only outside bonfire. That's very misleading.
Overall, the location and view is amazing, just the host have some strange way of doing business.. that unfortunately ruins the...
Read moreMy stay at Calidas Hill was an enchanting blend of nature and luxury, mainly because of the villa's unique construction using woven bamboo called impi.
The abundance of natural light and continuous air circulation enhanced the experience. Set against the stunning backdrop of Kintamani's mountains, the villa's location offered breathtaking views.
From practicing yoga on the deck to indulging in the foam-filled bathtub while the turntable serenaded with the timeless melodies of Nat King Cole created a truly refined experience.
Embracing the local critters as part of the ecosystem added to the charm. The shallot farming and outdoor picnics were unexpected delights, making the stay feel genuinely connected to nature and the local community. The #MenjadiWarga vibe is real here – it's not just a place to stay; it's an experience that leaves you refreshed and appreciative.
Calidas Hill is a haven for those seeking a genuine connection with nature and a touch...
