Gusti's homestay was impeccable in terms of service and support required in hospitality (esp in a new country).
Our villa was absolutely gorgeous with absolute privacy (entire compound to ourselves), fresh food (from thier own in house restaurant with vegetarian options as well) and an air-conditioning unit.
Gusti Koko stayed in touch throughout with us - before we even landed in the country to arrange for our airport pick-up, to helping us design our itineary and booking a full day rental car and tours.
The homestay is a bit away from ubud city centre bit is very well connected with Grab and taxis. Nearest supermarket on grab bike was around IDR 26k. Ubud city centre on Grab taxi (seats 4-6) was around IDR 126-130k. Full day taxi service 8-10hrs (booked through Gusti) was around 800k.
Please note if you are willing to drive yourself the area is slightly hilly around here. Also the surroundings is although quite safe and domestic, after sundown street lights are not enough in the area. We had no problem coming back late but submitting this as a concern for only those who are driving themselves for visibility at nighttime.
If you are staying here my suggestion would be to also book a balinese massage through him (separately paid for). The masseuse (who is a professional, has worked in India for a few years also happens to be Gusti's relative) comes to your villa and is the most polite and brilliant at her work. The 1 hr was relaxing and a great way to wind up a day of sight seeing on foot.
Do note for Airbnbs here I noted that there is no daily turn down services but they do provide some cleaning supllies like broomstick which you can use easily. Also the place is stunning if you wanna go for runs around the area, there are a few dogs in the area but are quite friendly to greet/cross on your way.
Would absolutely...
Read moreThe stay at Gusti's place was one of our highlights of our stay in Bali. We were looking for a calm and authentic place to escape the crowds and experience the real Bali. The guesthouse fulfilled our expectations. The host and his family are very kind and keep the mansion clean and organized. It's more of a guesthouse than a homestay as the official name suggests (Gusti Koko Homestay). From what I saw, there are at least 3 more rooms like the one we had. We didn't have access to the kitchen but we could always ask e.g. for a boiling water whenever we needed. There was a small but tasty breakfast served in the morning and the hosts were kind to offer us tea or coffee during the day. For a proper food we usually headed to Warung Umah Bali, a restaurant in the neighbourhood owned by a relative of our host and we can highly recommend the place. Our room and the bathroom was clean and quite spacious. There is a huge window so you can have as much light in the room as you want. The only disadvantage of the place I find is the exposure of the room to traffic noise as our room was located directly above the street. It's an asphalt village road and it can get a bit loud especially in the morning around 6-7 am when locals get to work. The neighbourhood is very nice and authentic, full with balinese homes and temples and there is no commercialism like in more popular areas of Bali. To sum up, we were very happy there and would highly recommend it to...
