Makai Medewi — Hotel in Pulau Bali

We had a lovely stay at this cozy and comfortable villa – it’s just perfect for two people. One of the things we enjoyed the most was the beautiful view from the bedroom – waking up to that every morning was truly special.

The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed for our five-night stay, which made it easy to prepare our own meals. However, we noticed that the dishes weren’t entirely clean upon our arrival, so we decided to wash them ourselves before using them.

At the beginning of our stay, there was a small issue with the cleaning service, as the cleaner didn’t show up to tidy the villa. Fortunately, we were able to clarify this with the owner, and from that point on, everything went smoothly.

We loved the waves in Medewi – it’s a great spot for surfing. That said, the area is quite remote and far from any major city, so options for grocery shopping or dining out are limited. There are a few local restaurants around, but we’d definitely recommend buying groceries in a bigger town (e.g., in Bali) before heading to Medewi.

On the bright side, there’s a very nice coffee shop just a 3-minute walk from the villa, which is perfect for breakfast or a good cup of coffee.

Staying @ Makai was a delight. I love how quaint it is and the close proximity to the beach is. Hearing the waves from the balcony and enjoying the morning breeze was the highlight of my trip which created a relaxing ambiance.

Enjoying the fresh morning breeze while sipping my coffee on the balcony was the perfect way to start each day. The lodge’s rustic and cozy atmosphere, combined with its location, made for an unforgettable trip.

Golden hour at Makai was tranquil and just magical ✨ The spacious loft, the bar tiles in the bathroom and kitchenette, the natural materials used in the Balinese architecture made the place feel so harmonious. It is functional and clean, and perfect for a family of 3 (a toddler). I’d imagine it would be so romantic watching the sunsets from the second floor bedroom balcony. Makai is also conveniently located minutes away by foot and by motorbike to cafés and the local mom-and-pops, as well as Sumbul Beach. Medewi Point is about 6min away by car/ bike.
