One of the most beautiful Airbnb's Ive stayed at in Bali followed by the worse experience Ive had in my 8 years of using airbnb.
Check in was easy and the place is stunning. I booked the place for two nights for my partners birthday weekend.
Our problems began when the next door villa which is owned by the same rental property. The next door villa sleeps around 6 people so it's going to be a place for groups. The guests of that villa let their dogs freely from around. The dogs were barking at me and my partner non stop on the beach and even coming into our villas area to bark at us. We complained and they talked to the guests who brought their dogs inside. You seriously need to reconsider your animal policy, we both live in ubud and are use to dogs but when you have such a nice rental by allowing dogs you are just opening the door for problems. Also to note the door to the outside pool area has no lock so anyone can walk into your room at anytime.
Unfortunately our problems didn't stop there, the group next door were partying all night. Mind you the quite hours are after 9pm which clearly aren't enforced. The outdoor bar/dining/ seating area of that villa is about 10 meters from your bed. Loud music, shouting, clapping, there was no way of getting any peace that night. We were able to find the owner of the Airbnb and he seemed aplogetic but akwardly timmed to confront the group. He even suggest I go over there with him to talk to them. Its not your guests responsibility to come with you because you lack the courage to talk to a group of guests on your own property.
So he goes over to talk , the music lowers, he leaves , and 5 minutes they are back to being noisy. So at 11:30pm my and my partner pack up our things and leave to go stay at The Tiing( highly recommend). First time in all my Airbnb rentals I had to to this. The owner apologized ,I requested a refund which ended up being 50$ less than what I paid because of service fees and Airbnb limitting the amount I could request.
So to wrap it up yes the place is absolutely stunning but with the larger villas next door theres 50/50 chance you will either have nice quiet experience or deal with people partying all...
Read moreWe have stayed nearly two weeks at Octopus "Villas" in the "Villa" called "B.A.L.I" ||A huge plus is how remote, non touristy and quiet it was even tho we went in high season October 18. If you are seeking some quiet days with barely any other tourists this place is definitely where you wanna go if you don't mind the downsides to it.||Great is the reef just about 20-30m in.||||The Villa was beyond outdated, partly dirty and needs some heavy renovations.||The lamps are full of dead bugs and spider webs which haven't been cleaned out in like 10 years. The showers are rusty and barely work. We were lucky to have a 2 bedroom villa for the two of us making it possible to switch beds as the bed by the pool had such an awful mattress. You can find bugs on the wall that have been killed by prior tourists or even on top of the screen of your bed. I took pictures.||All in all it is not the most cozy place you can picture when thinking of the word "villa".||||We highly DO NOT recommend getting the food package as food is really not good. ||It is very plain and expensive. Everyone that has been to Asia before knows how great food their tastes and would expect the same from this place. Apparently this is a complete fail. We ended up eating out nearly every day towards the end at the restaurant that is a 10-15min walk from the place called "warung made" - just leave the entrance, turn right and go (10min)/drive (2min). Here you get what you are looking for. Tasteful and flavorful food at very cheap rates. At check out we even told Anna that we were really not happy with what was served. She didn't really understand and mentioned that we could have told staff. We have tried to tell them that we need more spices and flavor but apparently they did not understand.||||Minibar is also rather expensive and you are better off walking to the little supermarket just outside (1 min walk) and getting your beer, cola etc. there.||||Both of us have lived & studied in several international places (also in Asia) and we have to say our expectations at Octopus "Villas" were not met compared to what we have experienced before when traveling nearly...
Read moreWe spent about 10 days in octopus villas and there were some ups and downs. First of all it was what we were looking for as in a quiet place. Nice swimming pool, good chill area, aircon made it inside nice and cool, the garden was right at the beach. The coral reef was very nice for snorkeling. Really private. We rented two scooters at the reception which is needed if you want to get around. We found a good warung nearby and the owner of the warung drove us one day around. Now for the down side: the towels smelled like they were wet for too long, we did not get clean towels everyday we had to ask for it. There were also big leaks in the roof, which led to a lot of leakages when it was raining. They came to fix it as soon as I asked, but it was just temporary because the next day it was leaking again in our room and bathroom. The owner told us it was because of the gecko’s eating their way into the roof which I of course get in an environment like this! It did feel like we were asking too much. She offered us three free massages as compensation. But when we did a proposal for another compensation she left us on read which we did not find quite professional. The food was nice but did always take a long time to be served (1 hour or more). So overall we had a good time but with some down sides. Also note if you want a grab taxi here search for them in advance! So maybe it was not such big things that were not good, but for the price we paid we...
