Stayed at Nemberala Beach Resort with a group of friends and enjoyed the best surf trip I've ever been on and the waves of my life! The surf pumped for the whole 9 days we were there, which helped a lot, but it also has to be said that this is a very well designed and run surf resort. The manager, Greg, is a really friendly, knowledgeable guy who is happy to talk you through all the surf options Rote has to offer and advise you on when and where to get the best waves on any given day. ||||There is a world class left hander straight out front, but this can get crowded at times, so it's well-worth exploring some of the other breaks, which you will more than likely have to yourselves. My understanding is that Nemberala Beach Resort is the only resort on the island that is really keen and geared up (they have 3 boats) to take guests to the breaks on the neighboring islands.||||The resort itself is fantastic too. Very nice, stylish rooms with comfy beds and mosquito nets. There are only 8 rooms, so the resort is very low-key and you get to know everyone. Having the dining room configured so everyone eats dinner at one long table is a nice touch and the food is absolutely delicious every day! The 3 course dinners are outstanding! Plenty of fuel for hungry surfers, plus they will cook your breakfast and lunch at whatever time you get in from the surf. You don't have to be there at set meal times, they understand that the surf comes first and you fit the food in around that. Just another example of how Greg and his staff have thought through what surfers need in order to have a great surf trip!||||Other cool things about the resort are the swimming pool, games room, massage spa and the huge selection of rental boards to suit any level of surfer and any size surf. The boards I took didn't go well for me when the swell kicked in, but Greg hooked me up with the perfect board that enabled me to get into the biggest and best waves of my life!||||The Nemberala staff are really friendly and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. Special mention to the boat drivers, who ferry you in and out to the break whenever you want (no need to wait until a group is ready to go out or come in). Also to Sara who takes care of the breakfasts, lunches, coffees etc during the day. There are also NBR staff to help you at Kupang and Rote airports to make those transitions smooth.||||So if you're looking for a friendly, relaxed surf resort where everything is set up so you can maximize your time in the water - look no further. I would love to go back if I have the chance!||||||P.S. I forgot mention the amazing views of the surf and sunsets from the bar, and of the stars from the...
Β Β Β Read moreA tough review to write, as we'd rather keep news of this place to ourselves, but I really have to give credit and kudos when it's earned!|The surfer of the family was happy with the waves, local knowledge and service provided getting to the breaks, along with the available surfboards. The surfing widow was relaxed, replete and loved the day spa, casual atmosphere, live Sunday arvo music and entertaining conversations. The 8yo offspring was over the moon with the local kids, pool and the games room (even if we remain the worlds worst pool players). Great, substantial meals, genial management and wonderful staff all contributed to a wonderful holiday. Spotless rooms, very comfortable beds and very tidy, attractive grounds.|It's a bit of a trek to get there and those intending to visit should bear in mind the location and region will dictate the facilities but as Queenslanders we coped happily with ceiling fans, coolish showers and no wi-fi. Management and staff were so welcoming and accommodating that we feel as though we have left with a whole group of wonderful new friends.|Our entire family looks forward to returning to Nemberala...
Β Β Β Read moreWeather was amazing, sunshine and more. Water was perfect temperature. The surf has something for everyone. Our NZ family of four stayed for 7 nights. Our two girls 7 + 10yrs, one surfer and one 'sometimes' surfer. We had the most amazing time. The pool was great for the kids - hard to get them out at times! The food great and tailored for all tastes. Lots to do, or nothing to do - the choice is all yours. Massages great in the spa. Accommodation was beautiful - the outdoor bathrooms amazing under the stary sky. The staff - well I can only say you arrived as guests and left as friends/family. ||||We loved that the place was slow, no raging parties, nightclubs, in fact hardly any shops. Plenty to see, bike to the market, paddleboarding, kayaking, snorkling, fishing, surfing, relaxing, or playing cards with the staff (so much fun).||||We will be...
