Hotel Tilamas is in the Sidoarja area, about 6 mins drive from Surabaya International Airport and nicely located along one of the major roads leading to Pasuruan, and onward to Mt Bromo - our ultimate destination in the first leg of our vacation. The next morning, after being served a very simple Indonesia breakfast, we began our journey with little fuss, avoiding the necessity to meander thru heavy traffic had we stayed closer to the city. ||||Upon arrival in the late evening before, we had dinner at a nearby Indonesian Restaurant called Pondok Tempo Doeloe, situated across the road from Hotel Tilamas. Next to the restaurant were a petrol station and at least one convenience store to top up on snacks and drinking water. Interestingly, the Indonesian Restaurant also had a corner selling bread and buns, western style. We had 7 young children with us in the group and the bakery was a great alternative to spicy, aromatic food. ||1. Superior rooms do not come with coffee/tea making facility while the deluxe rooms do;||2. Rooms are basic and beds are clean and quite comfortable;||3. Bathrooms acceptable but not the towels. BYO if you are particular that towels should be pure white and not in shades of grey, .... I think; ||4. Dimly lit rooms. Far from the images shown on their official website. Sorry ;||5. Mosquito infested area. Open the room door and the mozzies zap in by the troops. No kidding. We had to request for the rooms to be thoroughly sprayed which by then, it was not conducive for humans to stay in. A few minutes to the lobby to catch some free wifi connectivity and then head back to the rooms;||6. Rooms on the ground floor have little sound proofing. Parking bays are available right at doorsteps of rooms on the ground floor. So, a light sleeper can be easily awakened by footsteps, staff walking along the corridor, cars arriving late in the night and etc.||7. No wifi connectivity in the rooms we stayed in. Yes, at the hotel lobby. ||8. Staff at reception were exceptionally courteous and handled our late check in of 5 rooms with big smiles and...
Read moreThis hotel is 5km from the airport; the reason we choose it.||The room was nothing special but good enough. The hotel did offer free wifi.||The hotel is a little dull, it had no atmosphere, and there was absolute nothing to do in the neighborhood. The service in the restaurant was a little cluttered but the food was not bad. Because of our early flight we did not use the breakfast. The by the reception arranged taxi, very early in the morning (late in the night), was on time. The ride to the airport did cost 45000rp (3.82euro).||We wanted a hotel for a reasonable price to stay for one night only close by the airport with a taxi service at night. This hotel did...
Read moreIgnoring the other reviews on here i booked though an online agent. I was pleasantly surprised by the standard of the hotel having stayed in some dire places in Java. The room was modern and clean. I was welcomed by all staff on arrival and all were helpful and spoke English fluently. Only downside was wifi was only available in the lobby and restaurant area. Food in the restaurant was wasn't amazing but on a 12 hour lay over I only had time to eat one meal. I would recommend this property primarily because of its location. a 10 minute taxi ride to the airport. Taxis on hand 24...
