The main reason why we would not come back and would always choose the other Hotels in Sorong is the behavior of their reception staff and the drivers outside. Reception staff are unfriendly and not helpful and at the same time condescending. What an unpleasant experience. What was worse, was the behavior of the "taxi" drivers on hotel property. They try to rip you off, asking 200 k IDR to drive you to the ferry pier. And at the same time aggressively threaten your Grab and Gojek drivers and even turn violent on them! Disgusting and ignoble! If these taxi drivers weren't such a bunch of dishonest greedy people, if they would be asking reasonable prices, we would go with them. Instead they choose to turn violent on other human beings. Hotel staff tolerate this behavior and tolerate the ripoff.
If you don't mind this, hotel is okay for a short stay, i. e waiting for transfer. But there are better hotels for better price and service in better locations closer to the airport- like Aston or Favehotel (our favorite).
The entrance and community areas of Swiss Belhotel are quite promising, however, the rooms cannot keep up with that and thus lead to disappointment. They were superficially clean, but not on closer look. Towels were incredibly smelly. Our room had no view, but this did not bother us. Bed was huge and comfy, the pillows, too. Air con was cool and not too loud. Sufficient space and storage room for our luggage. Complementary water in the fridge. Breakfast choices were plentiful, quality of food was average, though. We do not recommend the restaurant for dinner, nor do we recommend the bar. Bintang 75 IDR, Coke was out of stock. Pool area is okay, not too inviting, no service at the pool. Pool closes at 6 p. m. and was hardly ever accessible during the day. Gym is too hot. When you step out of the elevator, water will...

Read moreTo be avoided. The four-star rating is an exaggeration, only the price matches. Rooms were OK, but the bedsheet were spotty, the AC was so loud it was hard to sleep and the bathroom was extremely tiny and could do with additional cleaning. Getting the wifi to work took another trip to the reception, because they wrote down the wrong login data. The breakfast is really good, no complaints there. What made the whole thing horrible though: When leaving for the airport we ordered a car on Grab - like you usually do in Indonesia. But the drivers just kept driving past us and then cancelling. After 30 mins of waiting, finally one of the drivers texted us, that he cant stop anywhere within walking distance of the hotel, because there is a hotel-employed gang of goons threatening them with violence, so that guests are forced to book the expensive hotel-taxis. We went back to the reception and confronted them about this - and they were completely open about it, saying that they are protecting their business that way and that we have to pay 200k in cash for an airport shuttle (instead of 40k by Card on Grab). As we were flying out of the country we didnt have that much in cash, so the lady unjokingly told us to get some at the ATM down the street! Only after making quite a scene and telling them that our flight was in less than an hour they realized, they were about to create a costly travel insurance case - so they quickly brought out a car and rushed us to the airport for free. An absolute disgrace of...
