High ambitions, very faltering execution

Rated 4.8/5 — Honestly, it’s mind-boggling. I partly chose this hotel because of the glowing reviews. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a sheer disappointment. A rating of 4.8/5 naturally sets a certain level of expectation — and this hotel simply did not come close to meeting it.

Room 511 At first glance, Bristoria appears promising, with the hardware in place to deliver a high-class experience. Unfortunately, the execution however messes up totally. An example: not many hotels even provide a bathroom scale, but here, they do. The only problem, it doesn’t work.

This theme unfortunately repeats itself:

The safe in the room was not operational. The telephone didn’t work either. Both issues were pointed out to reception at check-in but were never taken care of during our stay.

We had a reservation for three persons and had specifically requested three single beds. This arrangement was confirmed in writing, with an agreed extra charge of 50 USD (please see the attached photo for proof). However, upon arrival, the hotel staff had no knowledge of this request.

According to the gentleman at the desk, the hotel does not even have rooms with three beds — quite puzzling for a property of this size.

Our request could easily have been handled by placing an extra bed in a twin room, but even that basic flexibility seemed to be lacking.

Breakfast: Very good overall — fresh and well-presented. However, not even napkins or tissues were provided, which felt like a basic but important oversight.

The extra bed: Frankly, it was closer to a torture bench than a bed — extremely uncomfortable and not acceptable for any adult guest.

Bathroom amenities: Two bottles of shampoo were provided, but no soap — surprising for a hotel aspiring to have a good repute. See, what a bizarre blunder. Pls see the photo.

Similarly, in the gym, there was no soap or body wash available in the changing room bathrooms.

Housekeeping: The cleaning staff seem to manage the basics but miss the fine details that truly separate a good hotel from a great one.

I can in fact continue. My reviews are NEVER meant to criticize harshly but to offer sincere feedback. Bristoria has potential, but it needs better systems, attention to detail, and follow-through to match its ambitions. Right now, it feels like a promise...

13 nights stay lets start with the Positive Aspects:

1- Exceptional room spaciousness that provides ample comfort and freedom of movement.

2- Impeccably maintained beds, sheets, and bathrooms, ensuring a pristine and hygienic environment for a restful stay.

3- Swift and efficient service that caters to your needs promptly, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience during your stay.

4- A team of warm and welcoming staff members who go above and beyond to create a friendly atmosphere, contributing to a positive and memorable stay.

5- The room prices are reasonable when considering the hotel's rank or rating.

6- The hotel is not crowded, offering a more relaxed and tranquil atmosphere.

Negative Aspects:

1- The AC control system is problematic, as turning it off often results in it spontaneously restarting. Additionally, adjustments to temperature or fan speed are prone to resetting to default settings on their own..

2- While the TV boasts a sizable screen, the limited availability of free channels and the absence of smart features are notable drawbacks. To access YouTube or other content, you'll need to connect your phone or laptop, and its not as easy as it seems.

3- The window offers a view of the roofs of nearby houses, accompanied by a noticeable level of noise.

4- If you open the window, you will be greeted with the loud noise of the generator and may catch a whiff of the exhaust fumes.

5- the internet is not stable.

6- The location is distant from the city's main attractions.

7- You will need to undergo scanner and security checks every time you wish to enter

8- The breakfast consists of the same set every day, and unfortunately, some of my colleagues experienced abdominal issues.

9- You can hear your neighbors' voices, and being under the restaurant, I often hear the sound of furniture being moved, which can be quite annoying.

10- The prices for dishes in the restaurant are quite high, but the cuisine is undeniably delicious and of high quality

11- Lack of spa or massage facilities, and the pool is...

Absolutely! Here's a glowing review you can use or post:

Review of Bristoria Hotel Erbil – Exceptional Stay and Outstanding Service

My stay at Bristoria Hotel in Erbil, Kurdistan was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the elegant ambiance, cleanliness, and the warm hospitality that defines this hotel. The staff were consistently friendly, professional, and eager to assist with any request, making my experience incredibly comfortable and memorable.

One of the true highlights of my visit was the restaurant service, where I had the pleasure of being attended to by Sudad Afnan and his colleagues. Sudad provided outstanding service — incredibly attentive, courteous, and genuinely kind. His attention to detail and professionalism elevated every meal into a delightful experience. He went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, from the quality of the food to personalized recommendations and thoughtful touches.

The food itself was delicious, with a great selection of both local and international dishes, beautifully presented and full of flavor. Combined with the luxurious setting and attentive service, dining at the Bristoria Hotel felt like a 5-star experience every time.

I highly recommend Bristoria Hotel to anyone visiting Erbil. Whether for business or leisure, it offers top-notch amenities, comfort, and world-class service — with special thanks to Sudad Afnan for making the experience truly unforgettable.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night. Overall, it was a positive experience, with a few drawbacks. One major issue was that none of the staff spoke English, except for the manager. And for some reason the cashier took a photo of our credit card during payment, so we had to block it afterward. The hotel is located on a main road, so it was quite noisy. The soundproofing isn’t sufficient, especially in the early morning when the prayer at 5-6 AM can be clearly heard. The building itself is old, but the interior is well-maintained. The room felt a bit dark, but on the plus side, they provide slippers and complimentary minibar drinks (Coke, Sprite, and a bottle of water). During winter, the hotel can get quite cold and it's cool in the room. The bed was comfortable, but the synthetic bed linen created static electricity, which was a bit unpleasant. A supermarket is conveniently located just 100 meters away, and across the street, there are multiple currency exchange offices. Security is present at the hotel entrance, with bag checks, making it feel quite safe. There’s no on-site parking, but the staff suggested parking on a nearby quiet street, which has security personnel and cameras. Breakfast was nice, there was a good variety of local dishes, fresh and tasty fruits and vegetables, and delicious Iraqi tea. A nice addition is the ATM in the lobby, where you can withdraw cash using a foreign card.

I am here on an extended stay for business. I have been eating at the incredible Lebanese restaurant on the 12th floor. I have been served food by two men both named Mohammed, the last couple evenings. Both have been kind professionals and have served me the finest cuisine. Many thanks for the incredible hospitality and service.
