We had the absolute pleasure of getting Married here in July 2024.
If you’re on the fence or undecided my only advice is to BOOK! Here are the long list of reasons why!
The hotel itself is absolutely stunning, the colours and the layout is something I fell in love with, the grounds are so beautifully maintained and the rooms are extremely comfortable. The feel in the Ardboyne is a home from home this is why we choose this hotel I wanted each of our guests to feel comfortable, relaxed and just let their hairs down and that’s exactly the feedback we’ve gotten.
The staff from the receptionists, the bar staff, the waitresses, the cleaning staff, the maintenance team, this team really do set the easy laid back yet efficient and ever so friendly atmosphere and charm of the Ardboyne.
We weren’t an easy crowd to deal with we had severe nut and fish allergies within our wedding party. Joanne and the Ardboyne staff and chef couldn’t have done more to accommodate us, they’ve a nut free kitchen which is so reassuring and they insured no fish in or near our wedding.
Our wedding team!
Joanne, what can I say! She’s not just a wedding co ordinator she’s a complete wedding expert, there is nothing she hasn’t seen, done or accommodated. She has a no BS approach she will not promise anything she can’t do and she never once let us down on anything she promised us or gave her word on. She seems laid back but she’s just completely in control and confident in her and her team’s abilities. I couldn’t have wished for a better co ordinator for our day. She even went to the shop at lunchtime to buy fresh Brennan’s bread for the Groom for his tayto sambos. I could never thank this lady enough for what she done for us and how she made me feel as a bride. She’s one of the loveliest women I’ve come across in a long time.
Teresa, such a kind, caring lovely woman, the face of the Ardboyne. She couldn’t do enough for us anytime she seen us, the entire wedding weekend I don’t think this lady slept she was always around. Again a complete professional. And a Bruce Springsteen lover and the tequila enabler.
Robbie, the boss man, the shot server. I don’t think there is anything you wouldn’t have done for us. Not one request was too much from popping in before the wedding to the wedding weekend always so kind and professional stopping for the chats and catering to every need we had. The smoothness of our ceremony and our whole day is down to Robbie’s impeccable organisation and crowd control skills. A true gentleman.
When you book this team! You need not worry about a single thing. Weddings are stressful but from the moment you book the Ardboyne that’s one thing not to stress about at all! You Don’t need to sweat the small stuff that’s their job! Joanne told me this is the most expensive party you’re ever going to throw make sure you enjoy it, and enjoy it we did!!
I truly believe our wedding anywhere else wouldn’t have been half as incredible as the Ardboyne made sure it was.
This team, especially Jo, Theresa and Robbie made such a huge impact on us they’re a huge part of some of our most treasured memories we will never forget the professionalism, kindness and effort they showed us!
From the Bottom of our hearts, thank...

The ‘no smoking ‘ near food rule seems to be depending on which staff is working. During a huge downpour smokers were basically told tough look and to stand in the rain as only people paying for food are entitled to shelter during the day apparently .
We paid €30 for afternoon tea which we were asked on arrival what time the next day we wanted it at. The next day we had a later breakfast and when the receptionist asked the kitchen staff infront of us if this was possible the response was ‘oh yeah sure it’s all in the fridge there since morning throw it out to them whenever’ . We then got soggy, non variety of sandwiches . The majority of the afternoon tea selection was a shop bought lemon drizzle cake. They had crisps on top of the sandwiches (clearly since morning too) and they were almost disintegrating when touched they were so soggy. Surely for €30 an afternoon tea should be freshly prepared ?? During the afternoon tea itself we witnessed probably the worst of their customer service out whole stay. It began with a guy who was being trained in by a girl who along with some other staff member were shouting all over reception talking to each other about the match the night before and were cursing at each other that they ‘couldn’t f*ing believe it’... surely not what an afternoon tea experience should be , we could barely hear ourselves talk over them.
Then, to top off the ‘quality’ service, a new member of staff came up to them with a cappuccino on a tray asking if it was ok as she has never made one before , all members of staff at reception began to laugh at it and how ‘watery it was’ and she was told to bring the cup out to the customer and they would show her later on how to make one properly. Totally unacceptable to dish a €3.50 cappuccino that you have physically laughed out loud about the quality of to a paying customer and really shows the current standard and standard they are training new staff that it is ok to have.
We went to sit on benches the second day in the sun and staff walked by us several times only catering for the people sitting under the shaded outdoor food area. My fiancé had to go in and ask for a menu which was then dropped over . We waited 45 minutes and then gave up on trying to grab someone’s attention to take our menu. Every single drink we ordered had an issue . Be it a forgotten glass of ice, straw or mixer, which staff were clearly aggravated when the issues were raised and proper order was requested.
Really disappointed at the fact overall the two nights cost almost a weeks wages for the most abysmal service. On checkout the receptionist didn’t even say ‘goodbye’ or ‘how was your stay’ .
Clearly a hotel that only cares about money and no standard of...

First of all this is a big hotel with a lot of functions happening at the same time and it very well may have been the case that we were just too small to spend a lot of time on - the room was well set up, the communication prior was good but that's where it ends.
We had a set menu as it typical for events like this, something to please everyone, Roast Beef, Salmon, Vegetarian option and the usual sides. The service staff done a round of drinks when everyone arrived and after serving the food we didn't see them again - meaning anyone who wanted even a glass of water had to go out to the bar and get it there.
The beef was inedible and I'm not just talking 'my opinion' - everyone had the same take, the salmon appeared to have been cooked the day prior and deep fried to reheat but those who had the veggie option enjoyed theirs. You never want the poor quality of the food to be the main topic of conversation at anytime, never mind an 80th Birthday celebration - it was embarrassing.
I brought a plate of the beef out to the foyer and asked if a manager was available to show them the quality but was told that they were 'tied up' at the minute and would stop by when they were free - they never came by. The plates went uncleared on all tables, drinks were unfilled and because we had brought our own birthday cake we had to go to the bar and ask that someone come in and serve tea and coffee.
Very disappointing food and service for a venue that is supposed to be on the premium end...
