Hotel Primavera — Hotel in Barberino Tavarnelle

This hotel is set in a beautiful location just outside Poggibonsi, close to the Chianti region so serves as an excellent base for touring the area. The accommodation is quite basic and old fashioned but comfortable. There is no fridge in the room and you will be charged and extra EUR5 for the air conditioning but otherwise the staff are very friendly and helpful. My recommendation for dinner after a long day of driving is La Canteria, which is about a 300m walk from the hotel. Get there early on Saturday as it fills up with locals. Hotel Primavera is our favourite hotel in Tuscany. Our third stay was for 25 wonderful days in July/August 2024. Extremely welcoming hosts (thank you Claudio and Rossana), spotless inside and out (large property lovingly maintained), ample convenient parking, and a perfect location. In the heart of Tuscany, mid-way between Florence and Siena, and close to many other treasures, including several excellent restaurants within easy driving distance. This hotel has a perfect location in the center of Toscana. The most beautiful medieval hill top villages (San Gimignano, Pienza, Montepulciano) can be visited nearby. The hotel is also in the Chianti wine region and is an excellent base for doing wine tours in the region. It is also just 30 minutes drive to Firenze. The owners are very friendly and helpful and gave us good recommendations of places to see in the area. The breakfast was good and the rooms are large and clean.
