My partner and I have just completed a 3 week European holiday over 7 locations with our stay at Borgo being our last and most hotly anticipated stop. Unfortunately it took the award for being the worst hotel of the trip.
We stayed in their most premium Bellagio Suite, I'll start with the positive - the view is absolutely incredible and Id argue hard to rival by any other suite in Como.
The bad however really outweighed it
Entering our room it was obvious it was in need of a proper deep clean. Dust etc on the floor, the entrance door had dirty handprints on it, dusty skirting boards, mould in the bathroom, weeds in the courtyard etc etc. We dripped some water on the floor from an ice bucket the first afternoon of our stay, wiping it up the cloth was black with dirt from the floor.
The icing on the cake however was the 50 euro charge that appeared on my card 5 hours post checkout followed by an email accusing my partner and I of ripping bed linen and stealing a satin bed drape.
Now there is no way possible we ripped any linen and thankfully I had taken a video of the room on arrival for family which proved the cleaning staff hadn't graced our room with the hideous satin bed runner in mention (or a mop seemingly). A strong reply later the charge was reversed and a weak apology made suggesting they weren't accusing us - yet had already charged?!?!?!
We wouldn't go back, whilst the view was spectacular the service and cleanliness let it down beyond a repeat.
EDIT IN REPLY TO BORGO'S COMMENTS There is no truth in your reply, as I emailed you there was mould in the shower, the floor was absolutely filthy throughout the suite, the front door had dirty handprints all over it, the skirting boards dusty and the occasional chairs were stained with dirt.
It's impossible that we ripped bedding merely sleeping in it, given you already falsely accused us of stealing the satin bed drape which I proved wasn't supplied I dont think you're in the position to call me a liar on this one.

Read moreWe chose Hotel Borgo Le Terrazze for our final two nights, hoping to end our honeymoon on a high note, and mentioned this to the staff before arrival. However, there were several issues that fell short of our expectations. When we arrived in Bellagio, I called the hotel for the shuttle (as I was told to do via email prior to arrival), only to be informed that the next one wouldn’t come for two hours. The only options offered were to wait or pay €20 for immediate pick-up. We opted for the €20 shuttle since we needed to drop our bags and return for a tour. When we arrived, the room wasn’t ready, which was understandable, but the staff’s lack of warmth and helpfulness felt at odds with other reviews we’d read. The shuttle operates on a limited schedule for about 6 hours each day, with timings that aren’t ideal if you have plans in the morning or midday. Additionally, you’ll need to reserve a spot in advance and pay a fee to use it. So, after our day in Lenno and Bellagio, we took the bus back up. The roads are very narrow, making this a bit of a challenge, especially after dark. We booked a junior suite, expecting a bit more than an average room. However, the room resembled a standard hotel room and included a twin bed in the corner, which felt out of place. Small details—like water spilling over the shower, an uncomfortable bed, and a small TV—made the stay less enjoyable. In the evening, we waited about 10 minutes for anyone to assist us at the bar, despite being the only guests there. While we did not eat dinner or breakfast here, the menu did not look appealing and again you had to make reservations in advance. After our first day, we decided to check out early and spend the last night of our trip in Milan. This hotel is neither in Bellagio nor easily accessible on foot, especially at night. Overall, we felt misled by the location and disappointed by the service. If you’re looking for a convenient base in Bellagio, staying in the town center may be a better option, and you can still plan a hike to take in the...
Read moreWe spent 2 weeks, starting in Paris, then Milan, Lake Como, and finishing in New York City for our honeymoon last September. Our travel agent handled every aspect of the trip for us except the NYC portion, and she booked this hotel for us and we couldn't have been happier! The hotel is on the newer side and is a fair distance from the main town area of Bellagio, but they have a shuttle that makes runs to to and from town throughout the day and into the evening. I don't know if the time changes, but when we were there, the last shuttle was around 9:00 in the evening.
We arrived fairly early in the morning after being driven to Lake Como from Milan. The girl at the front desk spoke very good English, which was important since we don't speak any Italian. Our room wasn't quite ready, so we grabbed some coffee and a pastry (breakfast was JUST finishing up) and waited in the lobby. After a short wait, we were able to go to our room, which was a corner room with a GORGEOUS terrace wrapping around the entire corner of the room. We had the most amazing views of the lake and spent a lot time in our 3 days there on that terrace just soaking up the unbelievable scenery. Our room was pretty large , considering I've heard that European hotel rooms are usually very small, so we were very happy with that. It had all the standard amenities and was very comfortable and quiet.
They serve breakfast downstairs in a room just off the lobby. It was nicer than the average continental breakfast, with plenty of options , no matter what your appetite.
The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is that other than breakfast, they had pretty limited food available with room service. They did have a menu with some snacks and small dishes, and one night we each got a hot ham and cheese sandwich. Most of the restaurants and shops in town close fairly early, by about 9:00, so if you don't eat by then, your options are very limited.
I highly recommend this hotel if you're going to be visiting...
