Just returned from a week at Janna e sole. We were a group of 4 ,30 something ladies and one 2 year old, we had 2 rooms between us.
The pros This place is fantastic as a family all inclusive which to be honest with us having the 2 year old was fantastic, we would have loved to have done more of the trips out but with him and the length of some of the coach trips it just wouldn't have worked, so I can't comment on the trips but from what I heard they sounded brilliant. We did venture to port ottiolu which was about a 20 minutes walk from the hotel, it was lovely but mainly just restaurants, but the view out to the port was very pretty.
Also the animation team were brilliant, particularly stefy, she made a fuss of all the children and it seemed genuine like she truly seems to just enjoy her job, they do a little baby dance thing every night, which she organises and my nephew just loved it!
The rooms we found perfectly adequate, they were spotlessly clean and we had requested before we got there that the 2 rooms between close to each other and we were put 3 rooms away so we couldn't complain with that. We got clean towels daily, and there was always a new bottle of water left in our room for when we had come back for the day.
The food I really enjoyed, I know some people don't rave about it but as a group of 5 we all ate very well lol I don't really see what there could be to complain about.
The pool area was lovely and we never ever struggled to get sunbeds, we never went to the quiet pool as we had the baby but positioned ourselves by the baby pool, funnily though my nephew liked the biggest pool, think it's because it felt warmer lol
Cons This is more of just a moan the first one so we arrived midday, it was scorching and some of our coach got their room keys yet some of us didn't, including us, we were told we would have to wait until lunch was done ( lunch is between 12.30 and 2.30) this just was not ideal with the baby we had so much stuff, that yes we could leave in the rep room but after a very early flight from a drizzly Manchester to then land at a nearly 30 degrees Sardinia, you just want to get into your room get sorted then get on with your holiday...what made this even more annoying was an hour later a flight from Gatwick arrived and every one got their room keys.
Location..now this didn't necessarily bother us and was something that we had researched before we went, we knew with the baby we were happy to just have a peaceful relaxing week in the sun, we ventured to the port and we also spent a day on the beach which you can either access through the nature reserve which we did ( took less than 10 minutes) or there is a cute little train that leaves from the hotel I think every 45 minutes. I could see though how the location would be frustrating for people that are going to explore more of the island, but I did see many people had hired cars plus like I say TUI do quite a lot of nice looking tours from the hotel...the Corsica one looked very appealing!
Club Correllia..I think thats how you spelt it. So this is more just a personal annoyance but club Correllia are the team that you see walking around the resort with white t-shirts and shorts and they are clearly just aimed at the french, no problem with that, but we found them to be extremely rude! My sister asked one a question about the baby club and he scoffed at her that she should speak to someone else. Every other member of staff, be it, the animation team, waiters, Gardner's, reception..all lovely by unless your french club Correllia staff won't as much as smile at you lol slightly bizarre one night they were lol suited and booted and they came down to the restaurant area at dinner time trying to root out the french as they were holding a casino night up by the adult pool which I guess every other guest was not invited too lol like I say didn't really bother us as we didn't go for that type of holiday but I've never been to a hotel where all the guests mingle in the day but the activities are separated by...
Read moreMy wife and I have just returned from a fantastic two week stay at the Janne E Sole Resort in Sardinia as a 25th Wedding Anniversary holiday. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed and looked after, and this hospitality continued throughout the whole holiday.
Our outbound flight to Sardinia was delayed and we arrived at the resort late in the evening but the staff checked us in quickly and took us straight to the resteraunt to feed us before escorting us to our rooms. The hospitaliy manager, Luciana, helped us with our luggage and took us to our accomodation which would have been hard to find in the large resort - the apartments are well spread out and we were tired from travelling. We were given a great room on the hill in the resort with amazing views across the resort with sea and mountain views.
When Luciana found out it was our wedding anniversary, the next morning she sent us a beautiful box of traditional Sardinian fruit biscuits and a personal handwritten note congratulating us on our anniversary and wishing us a great holiday. We were very touched by this kind gesture.
As mentioned above the resort is large but it does not at all feel crowded as all the appartments and other buildings are well spread out, with each apartment having its own veranda/patio and garden space. There are beautiful shrub and olive tree lined walkways to get around the resort. The shrub bushes were all in flower and are all very well kept.
The resort has a large restaurant with multiple rooms and ample space for all guests, and never feels crowded. The food was amazing with so many dishes and variety on offer each day and each separate meal. We never felt that we were bored with the food but enjoyed the variety of traditional, Mediterranean, seafood, and local dishes on offer. The quantity of food was very generous and nothing ran out. The house wines (red, white and rose) were of good quality and were freely available on tap. We were very blessed to be here during the the annual festival of Ferragosto (15th August) as the resort put on a very large banquet with lots of traditional Sardinian dishes including large roasted joints of beef and pork, fish, and vegetarian options. There was also an incredible array of festive deserts and gelato ice creams. This resort is very generous, it must be the Sardinian hospitality!
The restaurant staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful, always willing to help and talk even though they were very busy. We would especially like to thank Marta, Valeria, Maria, Anna and all the Vietnamese girls (sorry we cannot write all your names here) who were working as interns as part of their Travel and Tourism studies - we wish the latter success in their studies. The chefs also worked very hard to produce amazingly well presented and tasty food.
We had hired a car for three days before we arrived but decide to cancel this as the resort offered many local and further-afield excursions at good prices. We visited many local places and the coaches hired by the resort were always promptly on time and friendly and the timings of drop-offs and pick-ups were well timed.
The resort has 3 large pools which we used several times, but we also enjoyed the local beaches a lot. The beach is about 500 meters or so from the resort but it is a pleasant walk through the protected nature reserves with lagoons and pine woodlands. When you are on the beaches you feel as though you could be on a desert island with the aquamarine sea and the woodlands just behind the sand. You can also catch a free shuttle bus (train) to the beach with free lounger access. Their neighbouring marina of Porto Otolio is also walkable and well worth a visit, as is the La Cinta beach about 4 miles away where the sand is pure white and the water is so shallow and warm. Apparently, Sardinia has over 600 beaches, so plenty to explore! Stunning weather too!
All in all, I would definitely recommend staying at the Janne E Sole resort, you will not be disappointed, and the staff are great! Thank you...
Read more3 star hotel at most Start with the good things. Swimming Pool The swimming pools are quite large, clean and I would say they are good. There are enough sun beds with parasols around the swimming pools so you don’t need to get up early to put your towels down even in peak season. There is one large adult only pool and this is very quiet with no music or entertainment which could be very welcome. It is also very close to the pathway that leads to the nature reservation & close to gym which is small but reasonable and not busy.
There is also a large main pool and beside it are too small baby splash pools. Again plenty of sun loungers with parasols and the sun loungers also has a retractable sun shade.
There are daily activities ranging from water volleyball, water polo and Zumba around the main pool
It’s a shame the pools do not open until 9 am because many people on holiday like to go for a swim before breakfast but this is not possible at this hotel. Due to the limited breakfast buffet hours you can swim before breakfast or eat breakfast, but you can’t do both. Swimming pool hours are 9 am – 7pm
The Gym Sadly, the gym opens at 8am so you can’t really do a workout before breakfast as the food is not replaced after around 850am once certain food has finished they don’t replace it in the buffet. Food starts to get cleared away around 0910.
Breakfast breakfast has very limited hours 0730–0930 Coffee machines, which provide very poor quality Coffee and served in takeaway paper cups only Surprisingly, no cut fruit available. You would expect cut watermelon, pineapple, and other cut fruit. There is only whole fruit such as pears, bananas, plums and apricots. No pancakes, three toaster stations with quite long queues to get toast. Anyone who’s been to a two or three star hotel would expect this basic level of food. It’s not bad but it’s just very average and typical of a 2 star hotel. Breakfast buffet includes cold food, cereal, bread, cold meats and cheeses and hot food, including fried eggs, scrambled eggs and pre-cooked omelettes if you get there before 845am. Bacon is Eva very greasy or burnt and overcooked. Only one type of sausage and that is the cheap boiled preformed hotdog style sausage. The type where they put the pig in the machine to scrape all the meat off the toes and shins and format into a sausage shape.
All inclusive does not start until 10 am So if you want any drink such as a coffee from the barista machine, you have to pay for it and it’s not cheap before 10am
On the outside Sun Terrace there are dining tables and chairs but in August you cannot sit there because you get swarmed by hundreds of aggressive wasps.
The Sun Terrace is quite a nice open space and they have live music and one bar only. As there’s only one bath for 286 rooms and 1000 guests the queue could be very long. The drinks however that are provided as part of the all-inclusive package are deliberately designed to be the cheapest & most poor quality. They are undrinkable. This is a deliberate and cynical design to force guests to pay for average drinks at premium prices. If you are planning an alcohol detox, this is definitely the hotel for you. Staff that work here have this complaint numerous times daily and they are very aware that the coffee and the wine are horrendous and they can’t drink it themselves. The white wine honestly taste like white wine vinegar. The red wine is so tarte it pulls your cheeks together and makes your eyes water The whiskey is in a bottle called Sailors, however it does not smell or taste like whiskey. If anyone’s ever been to Benidorm in the 1980’s & 1990’s or indeed any Greek Mediterranean British booze holiday you will recognise that familiar chemical smell and question what you are drinking and how it was made. Many of the guests go to the supermarket and buy their own alcohol because you really cannot drink anything from the bar. It’s definitely not a four-star hotel. This must be a self appointed rating because no independent agency or person could...
