We previously visited this property in 2015 when it was run by an an English family. We were very happy to see the Dutch owners continue the excellent standard and put their own stamp on it. Anja and Gerard were so warm and well organised! Nothing was too much trouble! The breakfast was out of this world, with signature dishes! Some healthy options, some indulgent treats, all fresh, local food, and always a home made star of the table made by Anja. We loved the new decor, modern yet cosy. The garden was beautiful and immaculately kept. Gerard allowed my little boys to have a look at an almond tree, and cracking up fresh almonds with stones is an experience my 4 year old still talks about a preschool. Kakis , olives, red soil, a mosaic of flowers ...what else could you wish for...a swimming pool, and it is pristine and large. There is a lot to see in the area, Trullis and the cave are the musts , but every little town is full of atmosphere and the landscapes are serene. A car is a must! Food is always excellent, not one exception, whether you go for budget or fine dining. Most places are mid-range, taverns, cafes and pizzerias, friendly service. Note the particular opening hours of venues though, follow your hosts advice and plan ahead a bit. And dont expect to get fed in the afternoon! A way out is cooking in the kitchen (charge applies), it is clean, perfectly equipped and a well stocked supermarket is only 5 min drive. The honesty bar has fair prices and a good selection of drinks, good idea. There are many books and brochures you can use and there is TV and free WiFi in all rooms. We used the family room, interconnecting rooms, very recommended for safety, privacy and convenience. Good for the kids, and good for Mummy and Daddy to have their own room. Cot provided is easy to move, so you can adjust easily to your familys sleeping arrangements. The rooms open up to the garden and have 2 bathrooms. Very clean, lovely decor in a building with history.Caring and helpful hosts, hoping to come back with our growing children to this home away from home! Other guests were friendly (all Dutch, but English speaking), and you could have a conversation, but place never was crowded. Good value, in particular off season (travelled early October, and previously early May). Honest people. You could spend 1-10 days there, I would...
Read moreWe arrived in the early evening to this idyllic spot just outside Castellana Grotte. I headed straight for the pool and the water was perfect. I love my swimming and the pool was large, just the right temperature and brilliant for doing lengths. There is plenty of space around the pool to lounge or sit so that you feel alone even with others there too. My room was very comfortable with everything you need. The en suite shower room was spotlessly clean (as was everything here) and the actual shower was powerful with space to move about. Both bathroom and pool towels were provided. I liked the windows (with screens and shutters) which kept everything light airy (there is quiet air conditioning if you need it.) The gardens and surroundings are great for walks, Pilates/yoga, plus there is a BBQ for guest use. The large communal sitting room and kitchen is very well equipped, comfortable, clean and homely. There is a large screen TV (Italian channels only) with plenty of seating on sofas or armchairs. The kitchen has everything and more and makes you want to cook real Italian dishes. We took trips to nearby Polignano a Mare (beautiful & romantic) and Alberobello (amazing trulli buildings) and the pizzas were incredible. Julia and Alex were always on hand if we needed them and they made the stay extra special. They are funny and engaging and super helpful with things to do and places to visit. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely go back and...

This does mean a 10am checkout.||The Grotte near by are amazing, and no trip to Puglia is complete without going to Alberbello.||We didn't have a car and Julia or Alex will drive you if they can, and if not, they will arrange transportation.||They both speak English and Italian and willingly share information about the surrounding area and restaurants!|||The first photo is walking from the house to the pool.||The second photo is...
