My husband and I just got married at Borgo Scopeto just a few days ago. It was an absolutely, absolutely incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience that I would without a doubt choose again and again if I could go back in time. If you are considering getting married in Tuscany, look no further for a venue. This is THE one. ||||||||I could write volumes about the incredible staff at Borgo Scopeto and it would not be long enough to fully capture their hospitality or the enormity of our gratitude. From the minute we arrived at the property, both for our initial venue tour one year prior to the wedding and then when we arrived for our wedding trip, each and every member of the expansive staff treated us and every last guest with the utmost respect and professionalism. We were absolutely blown away by every aspect of the service during our 8-day stay. ||||||||Our event planners from Borgo, Serena and Sofia, deserve special and outstanding attention. For months they worked tirelessly to make our dream a reality and they absolutely succeeded with resounding success. Additionally, on a personal level, they were both absolutely lovely people both inside and out. Given the nature of planning a destination wedding, we had to place a lot of faith and trust in them, and in every staff member. Our trust was well-placed. All of the events we held during our 2 night/3 day wedding were absolutely immaculate and completely represented our vision translated to reality. ||||||||The general manager Francesco was a pleasure to work with, a capable and highly professional manager. We felt extremely well taken care of by him. ||||||||I have not a single negative thing to say about any member of the staff. Everyone had a smile on their faces always. Malvina (how many languages does this incredible woman speak?!) was absolutely outstanding at welcoming everyone, Fiametta, Virginia at the front desk, Cristian, Gaetano, Giuseppe & more at La Tinaia Restaurant, and the porters Mustafa, Davide, and so so many more staff members worked tirelessly to make us and our guests feel special and for all the events to proceed seamlessly. They truly are such fantastic people all of them. ||||||||The list of amazing things to say about Borgo is long. The grounds are immaculate, simply stunning, vast, and varied. There is something for absolutely everyone to enjoy, including 2 pools, a pool bar, 2 tennis courts, a jungle gym for the kids, an outdoor firepit with multiple surrounding benches for nighttime hangouts, and breathtaking walks through vineyards and olive groves. The rooms are expertly designed and well-appointed, and spacious. The different indoor locations - the lobby, the inside of the central tower, the restaurant, etc- are just stunning. The decor, every little detail big and small, was extremely enchanting. Given the beautiful weather it was hard to stay indoors, but I could not stop going back to the beautiful indoor spaces as well. ||||||||The hotel was large enough to sleep nearly all of our guests; over 100 guests of ours stayed at Borgo during the days of the wedding. Avoiding having to arrange shuttles to offsite hotels was a major benefit, and it also meant that everyone could be together throughout the days, and not worry about how to get back to other hotels late at night. We created memories we will never forget. ||||||||I would like to specifically mention the air conditioning in the facilities and the bedrooms. It is top notch with what look like newly installed and high-tech controllers installed in the walls. Our wedding was at the end of August, and leading up to the event we were concerned our guests would be uncomfortably hot, but once we arrived and checked in we realized our concerns were absolutely not warranted. Returning to our rooms in between visits to the restaurant and pool we were extremely comfortable (and cool). Multiple guests approached my husband and I to mention how thrilled they were about the quality of the bedrooms. ||||||||During our wedding, the dreaded thing happened: it rained, complete with thunder and lightning. Regardless, Borgo and our wedding planner pivoted rapidly and were able to create a gorgeous wedding for us in the rain. We and all our guests had just the most wonderful, wonderful time. ||||||||I also highly recommend our wedding planner Vanessa Cacioli with SposiamoVi (I will write a separate review about her fantastic work). ||||||||Final comments:||||Choosing Borgo Scopeto as the setting for our dream destination wedding was the best decision we could have made. If you have even a sliver of doubt about holding a special occasion here after reviewing their website and other reviews, I can assure you, that our feelings of love and gratitude are endless and have been echoed multiple times over by our 100+ guests. If you love yourselves and want to get married in a the most beautiful place EVER, choose Borgo Scopeto and you will sleep easy at night knowing you’ve made the...

There is way too much goodness and kindness in Italy to tolerate the poor service, bad wine and terrible food
How Borgo Scopeto Disgraced & Humiliated me, my family, Friends & Relatives at My Son’s Wedding
The disrespectful, unprofessional and verbal abuse that the Hotel Borgeto staff (specifically, GM Francesco Ferruzzi) consistently exerted over multiple days ruined a wedding celebration that is impossible to correct in my eyes, and that of my family and of all the wedding guests who had to observe the scene.
The lack of sympathy, empathy and general business acumen of providing a high level of service to a person and family whose son was being married is astonishing.
I (and many family members and wedding guests who travel from the U.S. and Europe) will forever have a tarnished image of the wedding. This vulgar experience from GM Francesco Ferruzzi will taunt me for the rest of my life and it is irreversible.
Due to character limitation I will skip to checkout day - Monday June 5
At Approximately 1PM I ”Checked Out’ of the hotel with this clerk. The clerk in the photo provided me with the following receipts below. I offered my AMEX card and she responded that it was taken care of. I asked if I needed to sign any thing and she replied no. I took back my AMEX card and the receipts and assumed I was checked out of the hotel. Note, I sat in the lobby, across from reception for 1 hour and no hotel approached me about the checkout process.
My Possessions Were Taken Without Permission My Room (125) Cleared Without Checking Out or My Permission – Thousands of Euro’s of wine thrown out and a portable speaker – Staff denies and suggests I am “lying
Contacted Front desk at 11AM abut 6 bottles of missing wine and a missing portable speaker I alerted the hotel staff at the desk that I was checking out (with my wife, adult children and grand children) and my vans were arriving at 2PM to take my family, children and grand children and to resolve the issue BEFORE departure
Incompetent GM Francesco Ferruzzi Intervened and alleged that I was lying about the missing wine even thought the staff recovered some empty and full bottles and FOUND the “missing” speaker.
At Approximately 12:30PM, I approached the front desk for the 4th time (after speaking with them earlier on the phone (twice) about my other room (Room 125) being completed cleaned and all contents removed without my approval and without me “checking out of the room”.
At Approximately 1:30PM the GM Francesco Ferruzi of the hotel approaches me at reception.
The GM Francesco Ferruzi asks me, “what’s your side of the story”. I explained the chronology of events outlined in the previous slides to which he replies, how do I know you are telling the truth? Never once does he apologize.
The GM Francesco Ferruzzi never once apologized to me but embarrassed, humiliated and degraded me in-front of wedding guests in main reception area.
The GM Francesco Ferruzi does not acknowledge that the staff entered my room before I checked out and removed all of my personal contents (wine and speaker) Nor does the GM Francesco Ferruzi acknowledge that the hotel staff said they did not take my portable speaker but it later appeared. Nor does the GM Francesco Ferruzi acknowledge that the hotel staff said they did not take my wine but some empty bottles and 2 unopened bottles magically appeared. Nor does the GM Francesco Ferruzi acknowledge that I had, in my possession, hotel documents that the front desk gave me when I attempted to check out but the staff failed to follow proper procedure and run my AMEX card.
Instead, the GM waited until the 2 transportation vans arrived and then GM Francesco Ferruzi called the police and locked the front gate and delayed our departure -- for all the wedding party in the hotel lobby to observe. He's a...

When you leave the place you ask yourself: why did I fall for it. |The picturesque panorama is true. We really enjoyed it with a nice breakfast. But the positive part of the story ends here. |Upon arrival:|Valet parking means that they put your car somewhere in their parking lot and if you request your car later you vill receive the key and you should be looking for your car. Nice in a 5 star hotel?|Our Villa (garden Villa) was some hundred meters from the reception but I have to go back for the key of the safety box. The receptionist has forgotten to give it to me upon our check-in. In a 5 star hotel.|The room:|It was clean but poorly furnished. It turned out the first night that 2 lamps couldn’t be switched off. The guy who arrived to fix this issue was only able to remove one the bulb from one of the lamps. We couldn’t sleep in one of our room because of the lighting. The next day we were invited to note in an E-mail that the maintenance staff was working only day shifts. The cost of 1 night was roughly 900 eur. Nice, isn’t it? |Pools:|We could use only the “Family” pool with our 10, 12 years old sons. It is at the bottom of a slope 200-250 meters uphill to the main building. No guard, no staff at all and we couldn’t find a toilet at the pool. Nobody was taking care of the rubbish and dishes left behind by the guests. |Moreover it turned out at the pool that we can pick up the towels at the reception. Sign for the towels and when leaving the pool area you are required to return the towels to reception under threat of being charged a fee for failure to return. Unbelievable in a five star hotel. |Moreover one day the pool was full of adults who were drinking cocktails, beer and wine in the pool. It was really disturbing us. |Restaurant, dinner:|Average and overpriced food and wine, some evenings long waiting time. |Do not take the tasting menu!|4 courses and all dishes can be ordered a la carte. If you order the tasting menu it costs 90 euros and all courses are max half portion!!! Not only me but my 12 years old son remained hungry! If you order it a La carte it costs 100 euros but you will receive a normal portion. Nice business to the hotel. |On the other hand the view was nice. |We went out for dinner to nice small restaurants after 2 disappointing dinners. Believe me they had better food for far more reasonable price.|The Gym:|Big, big disappointment. I went in and left it. Very poorly equipped. |Since we spend every year at least one week in Toscana we are relaxed that it is far from the best of Toscana. There are plenty of places with far more professional infrastructure and far better food and wine. Sometimes 3 star castello offers higher level and nicer service...
