Porsenna Resort — Hotel in Castiglione del Lago

We stayed 2 years ago while on a 3 month tour of Europe - and this was our favourite resort! Absolutely stunning location, peacefully tucked away and perfect for some quality family time. The staff were amazing, we particularly enjoyed our host David, the food was great, the kids spent hours in the pool and loved the animals (the wee cat gave birth to kittens while we were there which the children were VERY excited about, and the dog would come greet us every time we came and went). Our rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable wth amazing views from every side. If you are looking for a quiet spot off the beaten track to rest and recharge....this is the place for you. Our whole family loved it (kids were 12 and 10)

We are thinking of you all there during this pandemic. Hope you are all well and that business is ok. We plan to return to Europe as soon as we are able (were booked to fly from New Zealand next week, but of course all flights were cancelled 😕)

Avoid booking this hotel. The hotel management is disastrous and not serious. They cancel your reservation for no reason after confirmation. They ruined our holiday.

The hotel's response is misleading. The facts are that they cancelled a previously confirmed booking. Booking has confirmed their malpractice. Interestingly, other Italian clients who had rooms booked for the same dates also had their reservations cancelled. In our case the excuse was a computer glitch, in the other a plumbing problem. Judge for yourselves. The conclusion is clear, an unprofessional and unethical management decided that there were other more convenient clients. Message, don't book with this site, you can't trust them, they are not serious, the computers don't work and the toilets don't...

Vergato d'inchiostro

E un posto dove magari approdi per caso, ma se lo vivi non te lo scordi più. È come un mal d'Africa, la sensazione evocata da una goccia di vetiver sul rever del paletot, una ventata di ginestre sui capelli spettinati. Si staglia imperioso e gentile sull'orizzonte, tra poggi e colline ondulate di cielo, nella terra di mezzo tra Toscana e Umbria. Villastrada, frazione di Castiglion del Lago. Il resort, tutto giocato su un gusto e una sensibità ispirati a quel sentore di legno e di pietra che sono l'architrave di un sogno ad occhi aperti, prende il nome da un re etrusco della città di Chiusi,  Porsenna, e domina un'ampia vallata. Il titolare, Rocco "Porsenna", insieme a madame Pamela, è persona che non ha bisogno di aggettivi, perché spira positività da tutti i pori, sì che, in loro compagnia, si viene a creare una comunione  di sensi e d'anima, che oggi è merce rara: di là da tutto, come si fa a non volergli bene?... Adesso desiderate, ed è giusto, sapere della cucina, e dell'ospitalità: cibi succulenti e pietanze ricercate, con quel tocco di sapienza tosco-umbra, che attinge al Genius loci, e che ti restano appiccicati addosso come un bacio. Dall'altra parte, un ensemble di ragazzi  (così mi piace chiamarli) fantastici, disponibilità e garbo, educazione e glamour. Discorso a parte va fatto per la piscina, una perla incastonata in un prato verde, dove,  a far godere l'occhio, sono disseminati i gazebo e le altre strutture che si fondono nel magico contesto, oasi d'ombra alla mira spietata del sole, fatine capricciose che si acquattano dietro gli angoli nei mesi inclementi dell'anno. E fiaba nella giostra di colori dell'autunno, sbocciare di vita a primavera... C'è poi un ritrovo per tutti, Rocco l'ha pensato bene il suo progetto di ingegneria artistica, dove si può parlare cantare suonare abbracciarsi. Come e quando vuoi.  Allora, avete capito che mi sono innamorato di questo miracolo di grazia, bellezza ed emozioni? Io, insieme ai miei due figli e alla mia sposa, non avrei voluto più andarmene da lì, e chi sa che un giorno non lo farò... Voto...
