The hotel Monte Emilius is in Charvensod overlooking Aosta just 5 minutes away by car. It is a friendly family run hotel offering comfort at a good price and the food in the restaurant is excellent. Simple but hearty Italian fare - first course pasta (delicious), second course choice of meat dishes served with vegetables of the day and following that, a choice of desserts. Considering we paid 45E half board, the hotel offers superb value-for-money. The rooms are basic, but clean. Wood clad in keeping with the mountain hotel feel, but the walls are a litlle thin (the only negative I can think of). I'd definitely recommend the place. We have just recently returned from our second visit there separated by 5 years. Both times we came to ski. First time Pila (Aosta's local slopes - served by a lift right out of the middle of Aosta) and Courmayer and on the recent visit, Pila and Cervinia. I'd recommend having a car so that the many interesting valleys off the Valle D'Aoste can be reached. Pila ski resort itself is very underrated and has some excellent terrain for intermediates and less aggressive advanced skiers. With 75km of piste which is all "thriller and no filler", there is plenty to keep you amused for a few days. Beginner skiers are particularly well catered for I am told. And the whole area is high (above 1800m, wih most of the terrain above 2000m) and North facing, so the snow quality is...
Read moreAn article at Motorradonline.de recommended this hotel as a basis to get the Valle d'Aosta under your wheels. Coming from Germany we were expecting some kind of traditional hotel being mindblown checkin into a freshly renovated house. The family Rollo owns this house since 3 or more generations and brought it to another level in June 15: Airconditioning, key-cards, Rainshower and modern ambiente were added to the sight into the Valley. ||Christian and bis cousin Manuela, who are the young owners, work very hard to keep the guests satisfied, giving tips where to go, offering menues off card, serving appetizers for free and so on. ||Il ristorante è bar e fantastico and with under 10€ for filletto maiale inexpensive. ||Breakfast buffet is reasonable some guests thought it was short. In our room the AC was dripping and one lamp didn't work but I'm sure they'll take care of that. ||We would come back as soon as possible since our bikes...
Read moreThis hotel is the best value for money i have ever stayed in, I loved the room. I windy road up from Aosta me and my partner stayed there on the drive back from Italy. The views of the mountains were beautiful and the room was new and warm and very smart. They style was just what i liked, very modern and clean. It was incredibly comfortable, all that you want from a hotel. The only thing that could be better was the food, it was ok, but not exceptional at all, we are in Italy remember, they would do better having much less on the menu but making it fresh. I had ravioli that tasted like it was from a tin. The salad was good though. The family who run it are very nice I would return- especially If I knew the menu had been overhauled. if this place had a really good restaurant, I would say it would be one of the best hotels...
