Giardini Penelope — Hotel in Ciampino

It’s hard to characterise Giardini Penelope as it is part hotel, part day spa, and part Air BnB - so it has many different strengths and a few frustrations. ||||Firstly, the space itself is gorgeous. The ivy covered villa is stunning and the interiors are stylish but functional and a treat to look at. The rooms are tastefully done, with good space - especially the bathroom. The copper fittings and luxury wallpapers are really special. ||||Comfortable bed and Nespresso machine is also really appreciated. ||||The outdoor pool area is vast. There is a large warm pool and two smaller cold pools all done in an Etruscan style - and they’re really lovely. Perfect for tired muscles. You share the pools with day spa visitors and they close at 6.30pm. ||||The property itself feels rural as it’s outside of Ciampino but the train is a five minute walk away and takes you direct to Rome in about 30 minutes. ||||The breakfast is really incredible. It just keeps coming - dish after dish - the most amazing cured meats and cheese, yoghurts, fresh fruits, croissants, breads, eggs and fresh juices. This alone makes the stay worth it. ||||The frustrating things are minor in the overall scheme of things but they are as follows: ||||Parking is free but is in an unsealed field next to the villa - make sure you drop your luggage at the gate before you park. ||||The villa is unattended at night so it can feel a little remote. We were perhaps the only guests on our first night and while that was fine - I wondered if it would feel a little spooky of you were a female traveller on your own. Perhaps an access card for the outside doors at night would make this feel more secure? Also the interior stair lights don’t come on when ascending to your room at night so that would definitely be good to change. ||||Other than that - it’s a beautiful place and so nice to have a haven...

Pubblico qui la recensione della mia esperienza ai giardini Penelope dopo aver espresso alcune rimostranze dal vivo e senza aver ricevuto, purtroppo, risposte adeguate.

Spero quindi di poter condividere la mia esperienza negativa e ricevere qui una risposta ponderata senza essere “blastato” come successo ad altri clienti insoddisfatti.

La prenotazione, effettuata dalla mia ragazza, prevedeva un giorno al circolo con pranzo incluso, una cena di sushi in camera, una notte nella stanza Calipso e la colazione per la mattina successiva.

Capitolo stanza: La stanza è molto carina e curata, l’arredamento ben pensato e il letto comodo (anche se un po’ corto per una persona poco più alta di 1,80). Nota davvero negativa l’odore di fogna che ha pervaso la stanza da quando siamo entrati, davvero difficile da tollerare.

Capitolo soggiorno al circolo: Sull’esperienza al circolo e alle piscine nulla da ridire, piscine davvero carine ed esperienza rilassante. Anche la zona del roseto è molto suggestiva (seppur non fosse utilizzata quando siamo andati noi) e c’è anche la possibilità di richiedere un massaggio.

Capitolo pernottamento: Qui viene un’altra nota dolente della nostra esperienza, in quanto la serata passata in stanza è stata guastata dai festeggiamenti e il baccano causato da una festa di laurea organizzata proprio all’interno dei giardini. Lungi da me criticare la scelta di affittare i giardini per eventi privati e feste (dato che il posto si presta eccome a queste cose) ma sarebbe stato doveroso avvisare i clienti o, ancora meglio, non affittare stanze in corrispondenza di questi eventi. È paradossale che in un posto che si propone come luogo di evasione dalla frenesia (tratto dal sito web) non sia possibile passare una serata di intimità e relax con la propria fidanzata. Purtroppo anche dopo aver serrato le finestre il rumore è stato forte fino a mezzanotte. Sicuramente avremmo trovato meno frenesia su via Tuscolana all’ora di punta o fuori dal Qube.

Capitolo cibo Sul cibo sarò breve: pranzo decente, colazione scarna, buoni invece i cocktail. La cena è invece l’aspetto più critico: dal sito si leggono cose mirabolanti sul sushi che fa parte della loro offerta gastronomica (“materia prime selezionate e preparazione sushi a vista”), ma purtroppo gli 80€ spesi prevedevano un semplicissimo sushi a delivery di qualità modesta, il cui prezzo mi sembra davvero incomprensibile e ingiustificabile.

Servizio e hospitality Si salvi chi può. Se l’odoraccio della stanza, il fracasso serale e il sushi sovrapprezzato non dovessero bastarvi, il servizio di alcuni membri del personale è stata la pietra tombale dell’esperienza: Siamo stati accolti il primo giorno da una ragazza che ci ha chiesto due o tre volte se volessimo pagare subito o alla fine dell’esperienza, domanda legittima ma che se ripetuta ogni 3 x 2 infastidisce. quando abbiamo ordinato il sushi da mangiare in camera non ci è stato nemmeno portato un tavolino o un appoggio dove mangiarlo, costringendoci a trovare delle soluzioni punk a cui fortunatamente io e la mia ragazza siamo abituati. infine le due ragazze a cui abbiamo riportato le nostre rimostranze si sono dimostrate superficiali, arrivando perfino a screditare alcune delle osservazioni fatte (alla lamentela sull’odore di fogna la ragazza mora con i capelli lunghi ha risposto con fare passivo aggressivo “siete i primi a dircelo” quando la risposta seria di una professionista seria dovrebbe essere “mi dispiace, verifichiamo”). Per non parlare del modo in cui hanno provato a giustificare il caos serale, dicendo che gli eventi sono organizzati da “terze parti” e che loro non hanno responsabilità. Io non so in che mondo vivano queste persone, ma se una coppia paga più di 200€ a notte per una stanza non può ricevere una risposta di questo tipo, la responsabilità non può ricadere sul cliente a cui è stato promesso relax e si ritrova catapultato alla notte della Taranta.

We wanted to visit Rome for a day, however we found the hotels in Rome really expensive and cramped. Somehow we found this pearl and booked the room Circe. |I also booked an extra flower bouquet for my partner.|The stay was perfect from the beginning up until the end. We got a text message the day before whether we had an estimate of our arrival. When we got there according to the time the room was ready and the flowers were waiting there. |The girls at the reception were very kind and helpful. |The room was even prettier than the photo’s they use on their site, and we were over all really amazed. |They serve breakfast (complimentary) and lunch. Which both were really amazing.|You can use the spa/garden/pool area’s when you stay there and these were also better than we would’ve figured by the pictures.||At the end the owner helped us carry out suitcases to the car and thanked us for staying there.||We figured out that they just started offering bed and breakfast service, but we thought they were doing a great job!||We can’t wait to book another few nights at...
