We visited this northern region of Italy to explore the petroglyphs / rock carvings which is the largest grouping in the world and the first UNESCO site in the world. When plotting out where to stay it was a little tricky to know where to book. The area that has some of the really important sites doesn’t have much for lodging options. We decided to stay about 30 minutes farther north at the Raggio di Luce, and it was the perfect choice. The folks running it, Carla and Giordano were wonderful hosts. The apartment was very spacious with everything we needed. You will need to bring your own food or eat out unless you arrange otherwise. Carla recommended some great places to eat, a pizzeria in Temù and a trattoria just a little farther down the road. Both were excellent with lots of options at a great value. Carla also had lots of reference materials that allowed us to delve into the important rock drawings sites. She had lots of resources for biking, hiking, ski/winter activities and historical sights. The old churches in the are were lovely. Since we were a little off season, it was very quiet which we really enjoyed. Our room was #108, and we stepped up for the extra space with a balcony and a beautiful view. There’s nothing like having a meal in your room as you gaze out the windows at snow-capped mountains with lush vegetation below. Each morning, Giordano helped us wake up with a delicious cup of cappuccino for me and a cafe americano for my wife. He was very warm and kind. We stayed for 4 nights in Ponte di Legno in early August. The Raggio di Luce was a lovely find. We stayed in the "Wild Rose" room which has a comfortable little balcony for 2 looking down the valley. Carla was incredibly helpful both before our stay and during our time with her - making a booking for us at "KRO" in the next village (definitely worth a visit!) and arranging a lovely romantic corner table. Breakfast each morning had a vast choice including a homemade cake! Recommendations for walking and driving were offered willingly. It is about a 10min walk into the main town and the car parking spaces at the hotel are inside a covered area. Abbiamo scelto, per la nostra prima visita a Ponte di Legno, di soggiornare per una settimana nel Residence gestito dalla Sig.ra Carla e da suo marito, e ci siamo trovati benissimo.||La posizione del Residence è magnifica. La struttura è baciata dal sole ad ogni ora del giorno, ed è rinfrescata dall’aria che attraversa la valle e che fa dolcemente muovere la campana a vento installata all’ingresso…||Il monolocale Calendula da noi scelto è orientato a sud-est: accogliente, comodo, ampio, luminoso, fresco, con balcone, e finestra sia nella stanza che nel bagno.||Tutti gli infissi sono in vasistas, per un perfetto ricambio d’aria.||Divano letto con materasso solido che garantisce il riposo. La stanza è talmente ampia che non abbiamo mai sentito la necessità di chiudere il letto per farlo tornare divano: ci si girava attorno tranquillamente.||Ampio armadio, dotato di cassaforte semplice da programmare ed usare.||Viene fornita biancheria da letto, da bagno e da cucina.||L’angolo cucina dispone di tutta l’attrezzatura necessaria, anche di un bollitore elettrico.||Davvero bello il tavolo e le sedie in legno massiccio. C’è anche uno specchio a tutt’altezza, raramente presente negli appartamenti dei residence o nelle stanze degli alberghi.||Il sito internet del Residence mostra, per ogni appartamento, la planimetria e l’orientamento secondo i punti cardinali.||A disposizione, con un piccolo extra giornaliero, c’è anche il parcheggio coperto per l’autovettura. Altrimenti c’è la possibilità di parcheggiare l’automobile in spazi all’esterno immediatamente di fronte al residence, oppure in uno spiazzo a poca distanza riservato ai clienti.||Il residence è in un punto molto tranquillo, la strada provinciale per il Passo del Tonale è sufficientemente lontana, il silenzio regna sovrano.||Ponte di Legno è raggiungibile a piedi in pochi minuti.||Si respira aria buona e tranquillità.||La Sig.ra Carla è una miniera di informazioni, ed è sempre a disposizione per aiutare ad organizzare al meglio la permanenza dei propri ospiti.||Fornisce piantine del comprensorio, indicando i punti di maggiore interesse e l’Adamello Card, che dà diritto a sconti (a noi è stata utile soprattutto per i biglietti di cabinovie e seggiovie).||E per qualsiasi informazione aggiuntiva, anche prima della prenotazione, la Sig.ra Carla risponde sempre con rapidità, garbo e cortesia.||In conclusione, un luogo dove ci si riesce a ricaricare di energie positive, ed a custodire nel cuore belle sensazioni.||Speriamo di poter tornare presto a Ponte di Legno, per fare ancora il pieno di altri...
