If 3.5 was an option I would have chosen this. I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday however I would not call this a 4 star hotel like it claims. My room was large enough, hand painted beds and walls, with a spacious bathroom. Sadly the shower leaked and completely soaked the floor of the bathroom and underneath the door. The TV only has 3 working channels and no 'smart' capabilities. Breakfast was not served in the glass patio like the website states but on small tables in the shade. There was bacon, scrambled eggs and boiled eggs. A selection of 4 cheeses, 3 meats, pastries and plain yogurt. They offer a 'light lunch' I have included a photo of the menu, I comparison to meals in the near by town, it is so over priced. There is no dinner option so you have to use their shuttle service, at the price of €20.00 a night to go up the hills to Cortona, there are no pavememts to walk. Even if there are 6 off you using the service is it €20.00 euro per room, felt we were being used, squeezed into the back of a small VW Polo for the most expensive 5 minute drive, at a set time, no exceptions. You are dropped at the sister hotel for a staff member to work there, this service could be free as they are going anyway. Dinners with wine in town range from €50.00 - €80.00, best to reserve as they were mainly booked up. The hotel staff are nothing but friendly and make the hotel welcoming. The swimming pool is one depth and about chest height, they could do with towels at the pool like the photos suggest, the towel is in your room and no towels were changed during our 4 day stay. On arrival they were kind to wait 20 minutes extra for our delayed arrival, in the rooms there was no information leaflet etc, the mini bar only has 4 bottles of small water at €2 per bottle. I was glad we booked this through BA as we got an exceptionally good deal for flight and the room, otherwise I would find this overpriced. As a stop off, between Rome and Florence I would say it is a...
Read moreWe loved our stay at Villa Borgo San Pietro and highly recommend it! It is a beautiful and charming villa located in the countryside down the hill (10-15 min drive) from Cortona and down a dirt road off the main road. It was perfect for our 5 night stay. It felt like it was once a home so made us immediately feel that we were home. :-) First of all, the service was exceptional. We were greeted warmly and genuinely by Alessandra who helped us with anything and everything we needed to enjoy our stay (directions, restaurant recommendations, parking recommendations, etc.). Alessandra, Nicolo and Alessandro took excellent care of us every day to ensure we made the most of our stay and visit to Cortona. The grounds are lovely and we enjoyed walking around them including the gorgeous views from the pool and the outside covered breakfast area where we enjoyed a delicious and bountiful breakfast buffet each morning (homemade breads, cakes, croissants, yogurt, meats, cheeses and fresh fruit). The cappucinos were delicious! The rooms were lovely and beds very comfortable. We enjoyed glasses of wine, prosecco and snacks in the hotel bar located just off the reception area. It is small, charming and intimate. Also, the location was perfect for our day trips to Cortona, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Pienza and Assisi. We also were able to drive up the hill to see Bramesole, the home of Frances Mayes. It is lovely and worth the drive. We highly recommend this villa for your visit to Cortona and we hope to come...
