Residence Il Tombolo — Hotel in Grosseto

The Grosseto area is full of very nice "agriturismo". Il Tombolo is an overpriced option that came recommended to us by someone that obviously had a vested interest in doing so. The room was veeeery basic with no character whatsoever, equipped with the minimum essential supplies, some of which were dated or rested. The pools were both unusable as the water was so green and full of algae that we were completely grossed out by it. At night time an incredible amount of misquitos would come out suggesting that no pest control was performed and our windows did not have mosquitos nets so we had to stay locked in at night time with the AC on eventhough the temperature outside was pleasant. The management was courteous but did a bad job at managing the property. ||The look of the whole residence was worse than its competitors and had no plants around, just concrete everywhere. We spent 4 days at the Il Tombolo in June 2012. We really enjoyed our stay here thanks to its location, neat clean and spacious room and ease of access.||||We arrived in the late evening and had a speedy check in. The room allocated has a cozy fold out sofa for the kids, a functional kitchenette and a spacious back yard. We were warmly received and got a great update of things around the place. The kids love the beach so we promptly headed of to the nearest one wihch is a couple of KMs away - had a blast. The place is ideally located to access the beaches of grosseto, the national park of marremma and we even put in a day trip to Elba which was great fun||||The only downer was that the pool wasnt working and the kids were really disappointed about the same.We would have appreciated some prior intimation on the same. The restaurant and pizzeria is also not functional, though the restaurant next door...

Il posto non è brutto ma per la cifra spesa sinceramente mi sarei aspettata un luogo più curato. Abbiamo preso un appartamento con giardino che però non abbiamo potuto sfruttare in quanto tutto secco e avendo un cane a pelo lungo ogni volta che si sdraiava si riempiva di erbacce e spine. Inoltre essendo una zona con molte zanzare credo che delle zanzariere alle finestre siano d'obbligo (sulle pareti dell'appartamento c'erano zanzare spiaccicate dai precedenti ospiti). Abbiamo avuto anche problemi con l'erogazione dell'acqua: per due volte è venuta a mancare in tutto l'edificio, tra l'altro nell'orario in cui tutti tornavano dalla spiaggia, e nessuno ci ha avvisato. Per chi volesse fare una passeggiata a piedi in paese partendo direttamente dal residence avviso che si deve fare un tratto di strada senza marciapiede e non è molto sicuro.
