We have just come back from our first snowboarding holiday as a family of four.|Cima Jazzi is clean, beautifully turned out and the front of house were polite, efficient and super friendly as only Italians know how..|I could stop and ask them at any point about the various factors of renting equipment, buses, etc. and they were always pleased to help.|The top apartment (no. 41) was beautiful and clean - only the bathroom seemed slightly dated. However it was clean and all functioned as it should.|While Cima Jazzi is a hotel, you get the self contained apartment so a perfect combination for us.|The children slept downstairs very comfortably and we had the lovely upstairs which gave us some privacy from the kids, without being in a separate room. |There is a tiny kitchen with two ring electric cooker, sink, fridge, cupboards. All of this is squeezed under the open plan stairs. While you have everything you need to cook, I banged my head a number of times as the stairs curl up around the area. And I'm a short Italian!|Cima Jazzi have a boot room in the basement which makes arriving with your skis and snowboards very easy.|The restaurant, despite being rather expensive, is super and worth every penny. I ate gnocchi to die for!|It was also a lovely way for us adults to eat in civilised quiet, while we left the kids upstairs in our apartment with a bowl of pasta and some salad!|I cannot recommend the Cima Jazzi enough and in fact, Macugnaga is just such a lovely place to visit for a family. |Before arriving I was concerned that it may be a hassle having to catch the bus to the slope. The bus stop is only seconds from Cima Jazzi and proved to be super efficient and easy. It only takes a few minutes to drive to the slopes and is far easier to catch the bus, as all parking you have to pay for and it gets rather clogged up at times on the narrow roads.|As snowboard beginners it was a perfect place to come and learn. The ski school is also excellent. I found the residents of Macugnaga to all be extremely friendly and helpful. The gentleman in Rabogliatti ski hire is fabulous, friendly and super helpful for all your ski needs.|Even the tourists, who seemed to be predominately Italian, weren't the super chic types, but down to earth families.|All in all, a fabulous holiday at a fabulous...
Read moreAfter my short stay in the Cima Jazzi in 2010 I promised myself a return for a winter ski break.||I called the Cima Jazzi to ask about accommodation, Cristina was able to confirm the apartment for us, and also give us the number of a local mini bus company who picked us up from Malpensa Airport. Very easily arranged without any problems at all.||We received an excellent welcome from Giorgio and Cristina the owners, and also from Nico and Sandra the very attentive staff, they remembered me from 2010, on my short visit with an Uncle.||We had an excellent apartment with a nice fridge, which kept our beer and wine cold, and a very quick kettle, important for making the tea and coffee first thing in the morning, whilst we watched the sun turn the mountains pink.||The service was excellent all round, first class food freshly cooked by Giorgio, accompanied by excellent wine suggested by Cristina and Nico.||They would call the ski company each morning whilst we had breakfast, to find out for us where the best skiing was to be had for the day.||In the basement a nice small gym with a treadmill, important for the April London marathon runners in our group, and a sauna for those of us not so active, but still with weary legs after a days skiing.||This place really is amazing, the views from the Monte Moro of the mountain range are superb check the photo's.||When I opened the Trip advisor before writing the review, I read a review from a visitor of the Cima Jazzi in February, this visitor must have clearly not stayed in the same place us me and my party of friends.||I will be back to the Cima Jazzi for sure, and I have reccommended it to several good friends and family.||Well done to the staff of the Cima Jazzi, we were treated like family rather than guests.||Kikko's small refuge on the red ski run is excellent for a midday break, and afterwards a nice rest in the deck chairs outside in the sun.||If you feel that to organise the trip yourself is too much trouble, then we met some people who had used a company called Pink Mountain Holidays, who organised the trip for them and they were very pleased with this...
Read moreMy husband and I took two close friends who were visiting us to this hotel. We brought our little dog so we were given a ground floor apartment which was perfect for the dog. We even had outdoor table and chairs in an area just outside our unit. The apartment was clean and a reasonable size. The only negative comment would be that the unit was advertised as comfortable for 4 adults which I am afraid I dont agree with. There is only one bedroom so my husband and I gave that to our friends and we slept on a single sofa bed and a chair bed in the living room. These single beds were reasonably comfortable but a bit of a pain as every morning we had to put them back and re make them at night. Also It was cool enough to have a fire which would have been lovely in the evening but no wood was on offer. We were given two tiny toilet rolls which ran out on the second day. We did have dinner in their restaurant which was superb as usual as we have eaten there before and cannot say enough wonderful things about their meals.||When we checked out ( mind you there were only a couple of other people staying at this hotel as we were there in September) the process took forever. Instead of being prepared in advance a docket was slowly hand written for the accommodation. Then another book was pulled out and a docket was hand written for our meal. Then another book was pulled out and another docket was hand written for the nightly tourist tax. Then to top it all of the credit card machine was not working properly so after a lot of hassle finally one was accepted and I had to go to the bank to get the cash to reimburse my friend. There was nothing wrong with my card or pin as I have used it since. Finally around 45 minutes later we managed to leave. As other people have said the location is good and the apartments are nice but it is a little on the expensive side for what you receive. Macugnaga however is one of our favorite destinations and we will certainly be coming back and of course we will be having a meal at ZMakana Stube...
