Salty but not as much as the food...
We stayed for 2 nights paid for in advance. Overall our stay was nice but a few bits made it less pleasant
Pro's -clean modern rooms -good functioning air con -friendly lady at front desk -amazing views and location -pretty spa with access for 2 hours each day -good breakfast quality and choice
Con's -we paid €60 for a private outdoor hot tub, sauna and drinks experience. The views and privacy were amazing. However the hot tub was not hot. It was barely warm, which on a cool evening made it a lot less enjoyable. We thought maybe it was just a nighttime issue but during the day in the 29 degrees sun with temperature set to max it was still cold. We mentioned this but got no response or apology -the dark haired barman cannot make mixed drinks. we tried his Hugo, which tasted of soda water and not much else, we gave him the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe it wasn't his best but tried his Mojito, this was just pure alcohol and soda, no mint, Lime or sugar flavours. He made a passable aperol spritz. Not really up to standard given this is a 4 star hotel and the price of drinks. -the worst was the restaurant. The view was beautiful but otherwise it was bitterly disappointing. We booked in advance for 20:30 arrived at 20:20 and ordered by 20:30. We didn't receive any food until 21:40 which was the standard complementary amuse-bouche. Around us people arrived and had had 2 courses before we received anything, a large table next to us had mains, deserts, drinks, coffees and left before we even got our food. We raised this to the wait staff and we're told it was due to the kitchen being busy. There were only 14 people in the restaurant. Then we were told it was due to the complexity of the starters which were a trio of tartar, which realistically takes less time as it requires no cooking. When we did eventually get our mains they were virtually inedible but by this time we were very hungry and had no other option so ate them. The "Gnocci" were 6 flavourless gelatinous balls, and the goulash with pasta was an incredibly salty tomato mince sauce with macaroni. This cost us about €75. We raised this at the end of the meal and we're offered a drink or dessert but by this time it was 22:00 and we were exhausted and also unhappy and not willing to wait another hour for whatever apology food they decided to give. We raised this afterwards with the very friendly reception lady. Who discussed with her manager. In the morning they took our drinks off and 10% off the meal. The lady at receptionist apologised but I think the management's gesture was insincere as I could see the male reception staff (I believe the manager) trying to walk around the hotel and look at us, and was glaring at me from the front desk during check out . We also feel this was inadequate recompense given the cost of the meal.
Overall this last experience spoiled what was otherwise an enjoyable stay. It certainly does not live up to their motto of their "passion for hospitality" or what a 4 star hotel should provide. But given the clear history of snarky responses shown by their guest relations team on Google maps I doubt this will...
Read moreWe stayed at Hotel Querceto for one week during our wedding celebrations in Malcesine (in May), and honestly couldn’t have picked a more perfect place! We got married at Malcesine Castle, and Hotel Querceto served as the perfect base for us and some of our guests. Highlights: The hotel tucked up towards the mountains, with breathtaking views over Lake Garda. Though the views were spectacular the highlight for us was the incredible staff. From the moment we booked, Valentina went above and beyond — answering all our questions, helping us plan, and even organising our wedding dinner at the hotel restaurant, ‘La Stua’. Nothing was too trouble and they added a personal, caring touch in everything they did. A special shoutout to Valentina and Ellie, who were absolute stars the whole week. And Joseph, the shuttle driver, was lovely and friendly too!
Hotel/Room: The hotel itself is cosy and charming, with a chalet-style feel in the reception and lounge areas. We stayed in the Garden Suite, which was clean, stylish, modern, and incredibly comfortable. We had a stunning view of the gardens, lake, and mountains each morning!
We also loved the wellness area, the outdoor jacuzzi and sauna overlooking the lake was also a selling point for us, and the indoor pool was perfect for the rainy days. I highly recommend treating yourself to their floating breakfast, around 40 euros.
Transport: The hotel offers a shuttle into Malcesine town three times a day, which was handy. The only small suggestion we’d have is a later return option in the evening, as the last one was at 5:30pm. Taxis are also available, the hotel can call own for you or there’ll provide you with a number for a local one we used Sebastian - good service, friendly and spoke great English!
Breakfast: Breakfast was a continental buffet with a good selection — no hot food to order, but plenty to choose from. Our wedding dinner, though, was exceptional. We chose from the à la carte menu at La Stua, and the food was delicious. Valentina even decorated the table beautifully and surprised us with a printed menu. Christian was another standout, always smiling and making us feel so welcome. Overall, this was an incredible, emotional, and unforgettable week. Highly recommend - the views, the food, the spa… and most of all, the people, really make this place special and we’re already dreaming about...
Read moreWe chose this hotel based on its stars and reviews, hoping to celebrate a birthday in comfort and beautiful surroundings. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be a major disappointment.
First and foremost, the spa area is severely neglected. There are large, visible patches of mold on the walls and floor — a serious health concern. The jacuzzi water was cloudy and contained hair, plastic debris, and dust. The space was dark, stuffy, and unpleasant to be in. There were no benches to sit and relax, and the contrast showers were malfunctioning — many water sensors didn’t work or sprayed unpredictably. Overall, the spa area shows clear signs of poor hygiene and maintenance. The same applies to the outdoor jacuzzi: the water was murky, full of hair, and the filter was visibly clogged with dirt (photos attached). Shockingly, this jacuzzi is used for “romantic breakfasts” served on floating trays.
Unfortunately, the room was no exception. We booked the most expensive lake-view room, but even it lacked proper renovation for the price. Additionally, the room was very small. That said, we appreciated the complimentary robes, slippers, shampoo, lotion, scrub, coffee, and tea provided in the room — a nice touch. The shower was clogged, and water leaked all over the floor — judging by the swollen bathroom door, this has been a long-standing issue. The air conditioner was extremely noisy and gave off an unpleasant smell. The terrace flooring was damaged by moisture and, seemingly, termites.
To make matters worse, parking is charged at €10 per day.
On the positive side, the property grounds are very beautiful — with green lawns, swings, and sun loungers — and breakfast was tasty and varied. The staff was friendly and polite. However, when we raised our concerns, they seemed surprised, simply shrugged, and told us they would fix the issues.
It’s unfortunate to leave a review like this, but the gap between expectations and reality was simply too...
