Osteria Pinf — Restaurant in Malcesine

We came here with high expectations, considering the reviews. We left pretty disappointed. Here’s why:

The food is solid — by no means extraordinary.

Our main issue: The portions are very small, for a rather high price point. One handful of gnocchi with one spoon (!) of burrata for 15 EUR is meager, to say the least. The same was true for the lasagna. You can expect something like 50% of a regular portion (judging from multiple restaurant visits around the area) for 100% of the price. Two pasta dishes and salad left both of us hungry.

The ambience/interior is unremarkable. Not disturbing but nothing to particularly enjoy either.

What’s good: great beer on tap. Attentive service. Very fast kitchen. Stunning view of the lake.

A word of caution: The last part of the road to access the location is very narrow and steep. If you’re unlucky and there’s oncoming traffic, you need to...

the view is amazing! we had dinner in the garden unter olive trees! also the staff and the women are really friendly and welcoming - the food was also good, but the portions were a bit small, and you should be a “ polenta-lover” :) we were still hungry and even ordered two portions of tiramisu because it was so small… but definitely come back for the vibe and view (for sunset and drinks) parking is a bit complicated, especially if zoo arrive at a busy time...

Die Lage ist außergewöhnlich. Toller Blick durch Panoramafenster auf den See. Das Restaurant ist nicht ganz einfach zu erreichen und erfordert fahrerisches Können. Wir hatten für 18.00 Uhr eine bestätigte Reservierung. Vor Ort wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass erst um 18.30 Uhr geöffnet wird. Man ließ uns tatsächlich vor der Tür warten und es war herbstlich frisch. Kein guter Start. Die Karte ist nur auf italienisch, was wohl authentischer wirken soll. Auf der Homepage ist sie in deutsch. Zum Essen: Käseplatte war sehr gut und reicht als Starter für zwei bis drei Personen. Lasagne war zu "verfleischt" ansonsten in Ordnung. Entenragout, ebenfalls zuviel Fleisch und überwürzt. Schweinebacke, war mE nicht geschmort sondern im Ofen gegart, daher trocken und außerdem schlecht gewürzt. Zuwenig Soße, diese war allerdings sehr schmackhaft. Polenta hat mir leider auch nicht besonders geschmeckt (trocken und grießig). Tiramisu, Biskuits waren trocken, hart, verzuckert und mE nicht in Espresso eingeweicht. Creme in Ordnung, es war kein Amaretto zu schmecken. Preise in Ordnung, sehr große Portionen. Der Service war aufmerksam. Die Chefin hat leider nicht den richtigen Ton getroffen, auch nach dem missglückten Start fühlten wir uns nicht wirklich willkommen. Es wird für uns kein...
