Lo Scoiattolo — Hotel in Massino Visconti

We stayed here for two nights and basically chose it because it had a pool and a reasonable price for our room, which was large, clean and had a balcony with a lovely view. We were pleasantly surprised to find that it also had a lovely garden and stunning views right across Lago Maggiore. We only wanted to relax but I imagine it would be a great base for people wanting to visit this beautiful part of Italy. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant but can supply snacks and drinks by the pool. There is also a restaurant literally next to the hotel so no need to use the car if you don't feel like it, although you certainly need a car to get around. The restaurant is rather dated, but our pizza was fine. If you go up to the third floor, there is a five-minute walk you can do that takes you to a scenic vantage point for some great photos. Terrible hotel do not book it was an absolute scam! Booked for 2 adults and 1 child, but when we tried to book in they would not give us the room without paying 40 euros extra, despite the fact we could prove it was booked for 3, they just kept making up different prices! When we refused to pay extra we left and called hotels.com who we had booked with and they called them. They claimed not to speak English despite arguing fluently with us 5 minutes before, and we're rude to hotels.com as well as us. They then quickly charged our saved card with 140 euros for a room they refused to provide! They have now been reported to card company in addition to hotels.com, we have left it to them, but from what I hear so far they are not cooperating at all. Ho soggiornato qui tre notti con mio marito e mio figlio piccolo. La struttura è molto datata, curata solo nella parte esterna e nella piscina con bei fiori e piante. La tanto decantata vista lago c'è solo dalle stanze al terzo piano e dal parco alle sue spalle (ma lo scopri da un cartello davanti all'ascensore, nessuno ti spiega come raggiungerlo e cosa vedere). Le stanze del terzo piano sono le uniche rinnovate e ovviamente quasi le uniche che vengono mostrate sulle loro foto Le stanze al primo e secondo piano hanno un arredamento vetusto e cupo, la nostra aveva parecchia polvere, muri macchiati (in particolare sotto al condizionatore c'era una vasta macchia derivante dall'acqua caduta dal condizionatore), una parte rotta vicino alla porta, il bagno molto datato. La vista è in primo luogo sulla strada statale. La reception e la porta d'ingresso chiudono alle 23, ma questa informazione viene solo lasciata ad un cartello. Non capisco perché al check in non possano informarlo a voce e soprattutto spiegare il percorso dell'ingresso notturno. Alla reception molto spesso non c'è nessuno né al bar, il cliente la maggior parte delle volte è ignorato. La colazione è servita in una altrettanto sala vetusta e cupa, un buffet di prodotti dozzinali presentato con scarsa cura (fette biscottate e biscotti buttati in un cestino a prendere aria e rammollirsi). Alla mia recensione negativa su Booking il gestore mi ha chiamata al telefono minacciando di denunciarmi per diffamazione se non l'avessi cancellata. Ribadisco quanto già scritto su Booking, aggiungendo che il titolare è stato telefonicamente aggressivo e maleducato e falso (sosteneva avessimo fatto in ritardo il check out alle ore 11.20 solo a seguito di un suo richiamo, ma ho la ricevuta pagamento POS con orario 10.18). In questa struttura il cliente viene sostanzialmente ignorato, salvo reagire aggressivamente quando si scrive in maniera oggettiva quello che non va, anche per mettere in guardia eventuali nuovi malcapitati. Non è una questione di stelle, un mese fa sono stata in un tre stelle in Valle d'Aosta con personale attento e cordiale, anche lì la reception chiudeva di notte (certo, alle due...) ma subito ci hanno informati al momento del check in.
