The House and the Sea — Hotel in Mattinata

I wanted to really like this hotel. Great location and setting. But that’s about the best it gets.

There was absolutely no interest from the reception staff in assisting us with large suitcases. All they wanted was to get a copy of our passport and send us to our room.

The room itself had a great ocean view, but really let itself down.

The shower had great water pressure but unfortunately the drainage was so poor, that after 30 seconds the recess was full of water.

The bed was incredibly uncomfortable and we could hear everything being said and “done” in adjacent rooms throughout the night.

We enquired about a tour that was promoted in the room compendium. The reception staff said she would find out about it and book it once she had confirmed details. It was advertised at €200. Well, not only did we have to follow up, we were told that the price was now €600! Seriously, why have the details on the room if not accurate? We later arranged our own tour for €50.

Like many other reviewers, we experienced the less than interested wait staff at dinner, seemingly lingering with each other rather than serve guests. Food was ok.

Car parking. Get ready for a dust bowl that is marked out with posts and flimsy chain, for which you are required to use a key to rope off your car. We later found out that the key fits all of the locks so our car space was occupied by another guest! As to it having video surveillance, I could not locate any.

Come in un film...... Esperienza surreale. Posto incantevole, servizio e organizzazione inesistente alcuna attenzione per il cliente. Voglio raccontarvi l' esperienza vissuta pochi giorni fa. Prenotazione per un pranzo di battesimo, nell'esposizione dell'offerta tutto perfetto. Giunti sul posto citofoniamo per chiedere dove poter parcheggiare dal momento che la festeggiata era una bimba di pochi mesi con al seguito scatola di bomboniere e quant'altro necessario all'occasione. Dopo quasi 20 minuti di attesa, qualcuno si degna di rispondere (tutto questo alle ore 13,00 e sotto un sole rovente con temperature al di sopra dei 35°). Ci dicono che non possiamo parcheggiare all'interno della struttura (parcheggio all'interno tutto libero), quindi sotto il sole rovente con scatole scatoline e scarpine da cerimonia cominciamo il cammino tra terra e polvere.Giunti finalmente sul posto, dove si era concordato l'allestimento dei tavoli che prevedeva segnaposti con i nomi dei commensali, non c'era nulla di tutto questo... per cui gli ospiti hanno cominciato a vagare sperando almeno di avere un sorso di acqua al fine di potersi un attimo riprendere dall'attesa e dal gran caldo. Allora cerco qualcuno per capire cosa fosse accaduto, dopo tanto cercare arriva una certa persona che doveva essere l'addetta all'allestimento (di cosa?) Alla mia richiesta del perché non c'erano i segnaposti ai tavoli e non c'era nessuno ad accoglierci per aperitivo come concordato, l'unica cosa che continuava a dire che si era cominciato con il piede sbagliato (ma il piede di chi?), dopo di che ha pensato bene di sparire e di dedicarsi agli ospiti della struttura dediti al pranzo. Nessuno è venuto a scusarsi di averci totalmente ignorati, dopo quasi un'ora arrivano due camerieri che poggiano sul tavolo (che doveva essere per l'aperitivo) due bottiglie di plastica di bevande che non ricordo e 4 bicchieri di plastica. Dopo quasi un'altra ora servono tramezzini e bollicine anche qui un ospite rimasto senza bicchiere ha chiesto di averne ma il cameriere ha risposto che purtroppo i calici erano finiti (già fin qui se ne ha più che a sufficienza per poter tranquillamente affermare che la gente che si occupa di questa struttura non ha la benché minima cognizione di come si riceve....magari viaggiare un po'....farebbe molto bene a certe menti).Per finire, il pranzo comincia alle 15,00 circa...ma ormai non c'era neanche più la voglia di discutere....per non parlare dei piatti, che benché concordato che alcuni commensali non gradivano piatti in cui vi era la presenza di formaggi e derivati per cui dovevano essere sostituiti con altro, a tanto, non veniva dato alcun riscontro. Che peccato avere tra le mani un posto così bello e sciuparlo per incuria e mancanza di interesse a coltivarlo al meglio. Certo non mi sento di consigliarlo a nessuno andate, guardate e scappate. Loved the hotel- beautiful decor- amazing pool and beach front views..great size terrace .bed was super comfy..staff were friendly and helpful..location was good- close to bus stop and 10 mins by walk to other restaurants on the beach..only thing I feel - there was no mini bar - snacks to purchase if u felt like something..nothing available.. dinner was quite expensive for what u got..prob expected delicious food- felt it was average ie not fresh seafood with the pasta..breakfast was good plenty of choice. Went to a restaurant on the beach 2nd day, food was awesome, fresh seafood and 3rd of the price..I don't mind paying more but expect it to taste awesome too..cocktails 14 euro at hotel 5 euro at other restaurant..|Would def come bk for sure, just would buy some things to have in the room and mix up restaurants..air con worked well..beautiful...
