Antico Borgo Toscano B&B — Hotel in Montecatini Terme

I stopped here for one night after looking for a cheap place to stay in the area on short notice. Over three weeks in touring all over Italy, this was by far the worst place I stayed. Entrance from the car park was via scaffolding steps, then over loose tiles and power cables.

The room of twin beds was big, but with two foldaway metal frame beds with thin mattresses and worn-out linen. Neither had headboards, and the wall was stained with the dirt and grease from previous guests’ hair. There were no cupboards, just a metal frame for hanging clothes. The electrical outlets looked worn and unsafe. The "Mountain and River view" consisted of a road and fields, with nearby hills and some trees, perhaps hiding a river/stream.

Amenities listings are misleading. There were no kitchen facilities in the room. Toaster, microwave, coffee machine, etc were next to the dining room and there to use for breakfast. This consisted of a packet of dry bread/toast and 1 coffee pod for a machine I had no idea how to use. Nothing to put on the bread, no juice, not even water, or anyone to help. On arrival I was told I had exclusive use of the bathroom across the hallway, so left my toiletries in there, only to have other guests use it. The toiletries provided consisted of a hand soap dispenser at the sink. The "outdoor furniture" and "dining area" consisted of a couple of plastic chairs by the front door (which is round the back), seemed to be the smoking area.

It seemed like a nice area, probably nice walks and vistas, but the cheapness of this B&B is still too much, even this close to Florence. This felt like it could have been nice, but the owner seemed to have given up and just didn't care.

Overall grotty, and just bed-ish,...

Il proprietario è molto simpatico ed accogliente! Bagno e camera sono ok e la posizione è ottima x visitare Montecatini terme e Montecatini Alto! La colazione offre fette biscottate con marmellata Nutella, caffè e cappuccino, merendine e pane tostato! Il corridoio puzzicchia molto (forse sono i fiori) Posto auto sotto il locale.. Prezzo x una notte in matrimoniale 40€...Si può migliorare (soprattutto la colazione)!

Risposta: abbiamo apprezzato la colazione perché siamo persone che si adattano e perché comunque non ho detto che è male... solo migliorabile! Acuni consigli pratici x migliorare la colazione (ho capito che potete farla solo confezionata) sono quello di aumentare la quantità e la presentazione di marmellatine e merendine... Prenderne di più tipi e metterle tutte in un bel cesto!! Aumentare la quantità di snack salati (tipo crackers, anche confezionati) e biscotti (vanno bene anche quei bustoni economici) .. mettere almeno 2 vasetti di cioccolata (con 3 camere altrimenti se la litigano)!!!! Mettere almeno 2 tipi diversi di succo di frutta! Così facendo, con una spesa irrisoria, tutto diventa più...

Gentilezza ed accoglienza famigliare a modico prezzo ho trovato un ambiente molto rustico proprio come uno si aspetterebbe da un casolare toscano. Piccolissimo paese silenzioso vicino alle cittadine antiche, é un punto di riferimento ideale per le escursioni alla ricerca di borghi medievali. Vorrei sempre trovare un’accoglienza così, grazie... Consigliato per giorni tranquilli in cerca di quiete, coppie in cerca di romanticismo, famigliole che non vogliono...
