Hotel La Rocca — Hotel in Nogarole Rocca

We recently stayed at a lovely hotel near Verona that had a lot of charm and a beautiful pool area, which was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. The service throughout our stay was excellent — friendly and attentive staff made us feel welcome.

However, our room had a strong smell that was quite unpleasant. My husband thought it might have been a scented room spray or air freshener, but unfortunately, it resembled the smell of tobacco and was hard to ignore. The rooms themselves were decent but could use some updates to improve the overall comfort and ambiance.

Breakfast was a mixed experience. While the pistachio croissants were absolutely delicious and worth mentioning, the rest of the breakfast felt a bit limited. There weren’t any fresh vegetables like tomatoes or cucumbers, and overall, the variety could have been better. The coffee also wasn’t the best, which was a bit disappointing for a stay in Italy.

Except being close to Verona and Gardaland, I am not sure what the small town (village?) of Nogarole Rocca has to offer touristically. So I was very surprised to find such a good, modern and colourful hotel there. I was traveling with a travel agency, otherwise it would be completely off my radar. However, the hotel was a pleasant surprise. From the outside, it was nothing special and it doesn't seem to be a new building. But the interior was clearly re-decorated in a modern style, from the reception, to the rooms. Rooms are spacious, clean and warm, and the bathrooms have HUGE showers, enough for two, even three people (not that I tried it ;) ). Breakfast was good, for Italian standards, lots of bread, ham, cheese, croissants, but also fruit, yoghurt, marmelade...|Staff is friendly and helpful, and although I spoke Italian with them, I heard them speak good English.|If you ever find yourself in Nogarole Rocca (or in the neighbourhood), I would warmly recommend staying...

Wir buchten das Hotel für die Durchreise wegen der vielen guten und sehr guten Bewertungen. Der Empfang war auch herzlich, der Preis und die Lage super! (allerdings nur für die Durchreise, da im Industriegebiet). Auch unser Zimmer war auf den ersten Blick okay. Sehr geräumig und relativ neu eingerichtet, allerdings auch sehr nüchtern und vor allem kühl. Es kam keine Wohlfühlatmosphäre auf. Allerdings fiel uns direkt auf, dass es für ca. 70% des doch sehr großen Raumes keine Beleuchtung gab, sondern nur "Nachttischlampen" und eine Leuchtröhre über dem Bett. Auch bei Tageslicht reicht das relativ kleine Fenster nicht aus um das Zimmer ordentlich zu beleuchten. Nunja, für eine Nacht irrelevant. Als nächstes fielen uns die Hochflorteppiche auf. Diese sind für ein Hotel absolut ungeeignet, da sie selbst bei gründlichem absaugen noch Schmutzfänger bleiben. Es lagen demnach auch diverse Haare und Krümel auf dem Boden neben den Teppichen. Hier wurde es selbst für eine Nacht langsam kritisch, da man keinesfalls ohne Schuhe auf den Teppichen laufen wollte. Okay, so weit so gut. Bis dato hätte das Hotel (wegen Preis und Lage) noch 3 Punkte verdient. Dann kamen wir allerdings zum Bett. Die Decke und Kissen rochen stark nach Rauch (wie im übrigen das ganze Zimmer) und definitiv nicht frisch gewaschen. Auch diverse Haare und Flecken konnten sich auf den Kissen finden. Bei einem Blick unter das Bett kam dann jedoch der Hammer, der Teppich war an einer Ecke völlig verschimmelt. Auch nach genauerem Hinsehen und Vergleichen gab es keine Hoffnung mehr es könne sich um Staub handeln. Es war ein riesiger Schimmelteppich in den Fransen, der dem Personal sicher aufgefallen war! So etwas darf man auf keinen Fall vermieten! Das für italienische Verhältnisse typische Frühstück änderte nichts mehr daran, dass von diesem Hotel absolut abzuraten ist!||Leider haben wir es versäumt Fotos zu machen.
