This is a very special place - a real paradise. The pictures arguably do not do it justice - it has a certain ambience that is really unique. We stayed there last year and just had to return this year. The grounds are absolutely stunning and immaculate as are the views. The pool area and bar/restaurant are truly luxurious.|The staff are all very welcoming, friendly and helpful - in fact we found that of Sicilians in general. We booked directly with the hotel having used an agent last year. This made everything simpler. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Rossella - she organised transfers to and from the airport and car hire from the hotel, massively reducing that stress!|It is a great base too set in a beautiful part of Sicily - rolling hills and much quieter than the area around Etna and great links to other places. It is hard to leave the grounds though given how peaceful it is in the pool area which is never too busy and an excellent bar and service. San Lorenzo beach is 15-20 minutes away and is incredible with Caribbean style sand and really great food in the Agua beach club - again the hotel booked us a prime spot. Ortigia is a must see - likewise Noto and Ragusa Ibla. Incavo in Ispica does a great pizza - again the hotel recommended and booked the table. |The breakfast buffet is fabulous and a bit dangerous as you find yourself eating about five courses - you won't need anything much for lunch but their Caesar salad at lunchtime is superb. |Dinner is excellent too - the fillet steak on the barbecue night was out of this world. The restaurant overlooks the pool area and hills and sea in the distance. Very nice service, food and wine. |We also had a massage - maybe the best we have ever had. |We have found a real gem and we need a good excuse to squeeze a visit...
Read moreWe had four nights at this beautifully renovated masseria, and enjoyed our stay in relaxed surroundings around the extensive estate. There is a large pool, pool bar and small gym, and a good walk can be done around the perimeter of the estate amongst olives and fruit trees. The wonderfully located and peaceful panoramic viewing point which is equipped with comfortable seating and canopy well away from everything was much enjoyed by us. ||The restaurant food was also much enjoyed, although wines, whilst good, we found quite pricey. The menu is varied and offers some excellent choices. I would recommend the fish cooked in salt casing, which was really nice and served with much theatre. Also welcome was the barbecue night when we chose a huge and delicious steak which was truly wonderful. On one night we made a change and ate out at neighbouring Rosolini, a small town close by where we were able to find something different. ||Our room opening onto the shelter of the courtyard was spacious and well equipped, as was the bathroom. ||Whilst there is a pool bar, it is not always manned, although you can call someone easily enough. It’s a bit strange that there is no other bar area, except for a small space with a few comfortable chairs behind a screen in the restaurant. ||Staff were always friendly and welcoming. ||Breakfasts were attractively laid out and offered good choices, although the usual buffet scrambled eggs were less delicious. Special orders were available at extra cost, but it would have been nice to have those options available within the breakfast price rather...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a place to stay in Sicily, stop here. This is the one. My grandfather was from Sicily and always carried immense pride in his homeland. After staying at Masseria della Volpe, I finally understand why.||The property reflects a deep connection to the surrounding land and culture. Olive trees, fig trees, citrus groves, and carob all flourish here. It felt like a microcosm of southern Sicily and the agricultural richness that defines the region.||The restaurant is truly one of the highlights. When we think of Italy, we think of food, and the dining experience here lived up to every expectation. The dishes were delicious, and you have to try the olive oil and gin, both made from ingredients grown on the property itself.||The staff made the stay even more special. They were warm, kind, funny, and attentive, striking the perfect balance of professionalism and personality. Their high standard of service made everything feel easy and comfortable.||Another advantage is the location. From the masseria, it’s an easy drive to some of Sicily’s most beautiful, history-rich towns, including Siracusa and Noto, as well as plenty of stunning beaches.||Masseria della Volpe is more than just a place to stay. It’s an immersion into the beauty, hospitality, and culture of southern Sicily. There’s a meticulous attention to detail throughout and a harmony of design and hospitality that could only come from owners who care deeply about what they’ve created. I already can't wait...
