Ristorante Codarossa — Restaurant in Noto

What on earth is going on here…. I can’t even begin to understand the good reviews for this Restaurant. Arrived at this beautiful location very excited, expecting to have a true gastronomic feast and wow what an incredible let down. 4 of us, ordered 11 items from the menu and the best thing by far was the bread/olive oil. Shocking how the head chef could try any of what was served and think that guests would enjoy any of it. Risotto/pasta/linguine dishes- bland is such an understatement! Sicilian/Italian food should be rich and have depth that comes from being made with love and passion for all things food. The risotto especially was a total embarrassment to gastronomy.. Cod cous-cous and the octopus with pickled vegetables were both awfully boring with literally zero flavour. Embarrassing to serve such flat and bland food! Served alongside the amazing olive oil was a huge salt dispenser, could the concept of this place be ‘season and flavour the food by yourself’….. lentil/veg soup looked incredible, then one bite and the sadness just grew! seemed like it was prepared by a robot(honestly how can something so tasteless be served to anyone). The beef tartare was partly still frozen! The sea bass tartare had what might be considered a ‘hint’ of flavour but maybe I am kidding myself and starting to feel sorry for this place. Please do not even consider going to this place if like ourselves, you have travelled and sampled fine cuisine from many incredible establishments across the globe. Where to begin?! Better not start at all when it comes to eating here… the service let us wait a long time before coming to us which is not acceptable since there’s not been that many people. The olive oil to start was good but probably just because the chef couldn’t get his hands on it to ruin it with his expertise of turning taste into nothingness. The beef tartare was still frozen and there was no flavor at all also the little drop of mustard on the side didn’t help. I’ve never seen a risotto IN ITALY! that was that watery and bland. The linguine with lobster were tasteless and tbh the shower water in my airbnb has seen more salt then the water for the pasta. Also to pay your bill they make you walk up to the „reception“ which is a tiny room with a dodgy guy in a hoody - over 300€ so very customer friendly and not sketchy at all. Last note to the people who own this place/ in the kitchen and service - this place is an embarrassment for Sicily and for gastronomy itself you should know...

Codarossa is within the Masseria delle Volpe luxury resort. The restaurant has always been good and is now extremely upmarket, with wonderful combinations of flavours and textures - and visually inviting. Desserts are sinful. But one must sin from time to time. Aldo is the Maitre D and is vigilant that every desire is met. Terrific staff. Friendly, polite service. Multi lingual. Excellent wine selection. Lunch and dinner menus are different. And if you need more, the views over the magnificent gardens and pool add that magical finishing touch. A short drive from Noto, but why not stay? Menu choices are very hard...
