I'll start with what was good about the hotel||||The grounds : The grounds of the hotel are absolutely lovely. It's almost surreal the environment they've created with fountains , statues and a wild variety of plant life||||The View : The view from the balcony is stunning overlooking the coast and having a perfect view of the sunset||||Now on to the bad things||The Rooms : Honestly was shocked when I entered the room. For the price and that it's a 5* hotel, the rooms reminded me of the cheap rooms you'd stay in on a booze holiday. They look so cheap along with the extremely outdated furniture, the whole thing just felt so cheap. On the wall there was a massive stain , impossible for it have not been seen but it looked as though it had been there a while without it being painted over. Again I just expect more from a 5* hotel ||||The staff : During our stay at the hotel there was two incidents. ||One was our friends coming back at night with takeout pizza from a local restaurant . They were refused entry to the hotel to bring it back to their room to eat it , they were not trying to eat it at the public areas but just simply bring it up to their room. I've never in my life had a hotel dictate the food I can bring to my room.||Second was two of the girls from the group getting catcalled by staff down at the private beach of the hotel. ||||The Gym : This was a minor issue but the "gym" they have is so bloody basic that you can't do much at all. It was really disappointing for me since I just expected more from a 5*||||Overall , I just felt extremely let down. I feel the price paid does not reflect the quality of the hotel. It's as if they spent 90% of their budget on the surrounding grounds and then they went cheap on the...
Read moreThe hotel is situated in a beautiful park and therefore very quiet. The architecture is also convincing, but this hotel is also a bit outdated and needs renovation in many places.||Unfortunately the service is not optimal. The welcome at the reception is loud and not very warmhearted. The breakfast buffet, which is due to the special circumstances, is neither convincing in choice nor taste. The waiters, who are very eager but nevertheless not particularly friendly, appear slightly annoyed when guests express individual wishes.||Due to the bad weather, the breakfast restaurant was cold on the morning of our departure and it rained and dripped everywhere. But that shows the poor condition of the building. The restaurant had a little bit the character of a youth hostel that morning.||Our room with sea view and small balcony was spotless and clean, but the air conditioning could not be turned off.||Another negative point is that the private beach was closed much too early. Especially in a leisure hotel like yours, guests don't want to be expelled from the beach at 6 pm. We would have liked to go Swimming later as well.||Conclusion: undeniably a beautiful hotel in a sensational location, although quite far from the centre. A hotel-owned shuttle would certainly be a good investment - as would the training of some of the staff in terms of friendliness and service. After all, you want to be a 5* hotel. But as a guest you don't notice that.||And another small note on hygiene: please instruct your staff that a mouth-nose mask that is only worn over the mouth and not over the nose is ineffective and that guests could also be infected by aerosols...
Read moreIntact 60’s decor in excellent nick. Dramatic views over the sea looking to Naples and Vesuvius, and sited right on huge cliffs to the sea. The pool is big and lovely and the private beach is great and private. Breakfast very average, and lunch menu meh. Evening meal with more sophisticated menu was good. Problem is you’re kind of stuck there with no other restaurants close enough to pop in. Easy pretty walk to Sorrento. Concierge booked dinner in town at Antigua Trattoria exquisite decor and food, a must go. Always worth getting advice from knowledgeable concierge for best quality hidden gems we found. Very happy we chose Sorrento not Positano, for pool and beach access with kids. Free shuttle to town good, but taxi home after dinner. Happy with experience, it is exactly...
