Food|Stayed here for our summer Dolomites hiking trip. I picked this hotel for its reputation regarding food and we were not disappointed. In fact we were in food heaven!||Dinner - canapés delivered to you whilst you are in the reception area before dinner, then exquisite salad buffet with amazing variety and choice. Then after, a 4 course dinner with options to choose from. ||Hotel|The hotel is a sustainable, eco friendly hotel; almost plastic free and offers sustainable/biodegradable toiletries where possible. It is a small hotel, with only 16 rooms and all of the rooms are cleverly situated so you are only really ever in a row of 3 and barely overlooked which adds to the sense of privacy and peace. As such it is a quiet hotel and we found that most guests congregated for an aperitif before dinner, and after dinner many retired to their rooms ready for hiking the next day. But we made some lovely connections with the guests which we enjoyed. There is a wonderful reception area with a central log burner which would be wonderful in winter and an outdoor balcony for drinks.||Spa|The new indoor pool is a wonderful area to spend time and we used the spa downstairs with sauna, steam room and hot tub outside overlooking the mountains. There is also a relaxation area in the pool area (and many places to sit/lay outside and inside). There was also an additional un-operational sauna and steam room in the pool area which was never on. I always meant to ask why but never got round to it.||Staff|We would like to thank the 2 lovely young hosts, Michaela and Céline, who made our days and evenings with excellent service and also excellent recommendation of digestifs to end the meal. The morning staff server was also excellent (but unfortunately I didn’t ask her name). Bernadette, the owner is extremely welcoming and offered to help us choose/discuss our hikes each morning based on the weather etc. We also welcomed Bernadette’s brilliant sense of humour and her excellent language skills.||Improvements|While there is almost nothing to improve, I would welcome tea and coffee making facilities in each room and would add that in June we were starting to get fairly warm at night. As there appeared to be no air conditioning which is great for the environment (I assume due to its design being a Clima House), I would welcome sheets or thinner covers for the bed. The patio door used a clever design which allowed it to be opened vertically to let the breeze through but without access from outside. However in the height of summer I would be interested to see how hot the room got.||I would also welcome seeing prices on the drinks ticket that we signed each morning (for the evening before), just to have an understanding of how much we were spending, but Bernadette kindly gave a us a sub total every few days.||The last thing is that the aspect of the hotel meant the outdoor balcony in the evening would be in the shade. There were tables outside the front of the hotel facing west but these looked out to the car park and road and it would be wonderful to have this patio area sectioned off with hedging so that it felt like its own area. Then more tables and chairs could be added and a real feature made of the area. 😊||I can see why this hotel consistently has 5 star reviews and many repeat guests. Bernadette, her husband and team really care about the service and food they provide and we would love to come back, if we visited the Dolomites again in the summer, but so many places to tick off our list! We have already recommended it to...
Read moreSome mutual friends in San Francisco recommended this hotel when we were planning a hiking trip to the Dolomites, and our only regret is that we could not have stayed longer than the four nights we allotted to this beautiful place! ||Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The hotel is fairly newly constructed, so everything is new and modern, but with a relaxed, mountain feel. It is ideally situated in the heart of ski country in the Dolomites, which translates into great hiking opportunities in the summer and fall. Bernadette, the proprietor, is very good at making recommendations to suit your desires and hiking abilities.||The food was terrific! A good size breakfast buffet is laid out every morning, where you can even make your own fresh juice from the fruit and veggies on hand, plus you can order eggs however you like with other meats, etc. Dinner starts with an equally generous layout of salad and appetizer offerings followed by a four-course meal served at your table. The chef comes up with delicious and sophisticated fare that changes each evening, and they even held a soiree one evening with passed hors d'oeuvres prior to dinner. We usually don't eat dessert, but the stuff coming out of the kitchen was so creative and delicious we couldn't resist!||There are two different spa/relaxation areas, one upstairs with an indoor pool that has a magical view of the mountain, and another downstairs with sauna, outdoor jacuzzi and equally spectacular mountain views. It was a great way to end a day of vigorous hiking with a little pampering.||Lastly, we can't say enough about the friendly, welcoming staff led by Bernadette. Celine, Michela and Rosie always had smiles on their faces and seemed to truly love doing everything they could to make our stay more comfortable and enjoyable. ||We were sad to leave and hope to be able to return sometime to this little...
