I spoke with someone at the BNB prior to booking, who assured me he would pick me up when I arrived at the train station in Ferno. Unfortunately, when I arrived in Milan there was a train strike from Milan to Ferno, with three trains cancelling, before I realized there was likely a strike, so paid an extra fare and took the bus to Malpensa Airport, called the BNB, and someone picked me up. I was told that the trains to Ferno are often on strike - something that would have been helpful to know ahead of time, so I could have planned accordingly. It also turned out that the other people working at the BNB had no notion of my prior conversation with the person I spoke with originally.||||After all the great reviews, I was disappointed by the interactions I had with the owners (aside from the very nice man who picked me up at the airport.) There was a lack of warmth that left me feeling like their only interest was financial. I was leaving early the next morning, and asked if there were be anything available for breakfast - and was offered coffee. (They did offer a pre-packaged croissant in the morning.)||||This was an extremely long day, as I had just completed a four hour train ride, in addition to the two hours I waited at Milano Central waiting for a train, and the 50-minute bus ride to Malpensa. While the room itself was nice, I would stay someplace...
Read moreA very good value B&B 10 mins from airport. Very clean and comfortable.||Ferns itself is very sleepy and not much to do but go for a meal and a walk.||There is nothing to see really but after being in Milan for 3 days it was quite nice to slow down and relax the night before flight home.||The only gripe I have and it's hard to find one was the language barrier and that's my fault as well as I do not speak Italian.||It did cause a problem as we arrived by train from Milan and I was communicating via email but the information I got back was unclear as how to get to b&b from station.||We had to walk to town and ask a cafe owner for help locating it. Not ideal as my partner had an infection in her leg and struggled to walk very good.||There was no taxis outside station so we didn't have a choice||Once there everyone was very helpful and recommended a restaurant which was very good. We had a lift to airport in morning for 10 euros and I had a bottle of beer at b&b which was in my opinion overpriced at 5 euros.||Breakfast very basic but ok if you not too hungry in the mornings, we also had access to make a coffee or tea at anytime which we like||All in all a good stay and we would...
Read moreWe arrived around 5pm. Due to my saying we would arrived later there was nobody there. But we rang the phone number given and within 5mins a young man arrived, concerned in case we had been waiting for long. His english was very good. We were taken through the lovely garden to the stairs up to the rooms. The flight of stairs is quite high but well lighted. Our room was off to the right. A lovely light room with attractive wooden beams on the ceiling. We had a onsuite bathroom which was also very light and clean. The eating area was for the use of all the guests - no problem at all. There was a fridge-freezer, coffee machine, kettle, cups & saucers and glasses. There is a small terrace ideal for smokers. And information about the area. Our room had a TV (which worked perfectly). We were given fresh towels also. The breakfast was basic bit sufficient, especially as the price of staying is so.reasonable.This is a perfect place for either a last night stop off or for a quite stay, as the surrounding area was very tranquil! The airport is about ten minutes away. No photos, as I made a short video of the place. Would recommend Il Gelsomino...
