We arrived at Bologna airport and took a taxi, 30 minutes drive costing Euro32.00. We were greeted by the owner's uncle Francesco. Quick check-in procedure and Giuseppe gave us his gentle welcome and presentation of this charming accommodation. He explained the breakfast procedure for which they give you a ticket to present to a cafe one kilometer down the road.||||We went to unwind and freshen up in the room, a nice well sized room, very clean with tea making facilities and biscuits in room. ||||Early evening we went down to make our way to a restaurant for some food. Here we met both Francesco and his nephew Alessandro who i the owner of this B&B.||||Franceco speaks good English and Alessandro speaks perfect English which far beats my Italian qualities. Alessandro explained where to find the closest restaurants, which are best value for money with good food. As we spoke we explained that we had encountered a serious problem when we arrived at the airport. The listened attentively, gave us their opinion on the matter and also some advise. Above all their support made us feel a lot better as both my wife and myself were under extreme stress.||||We had pre-booked and pre-paid a hire car from Autoeurope through the internet to be collected at the airport on arrival. When we went to Goldcar to collect the car we gave them a debit card to confirm a guarantee for the full insurance cover but they insisted on a credit card and not a debit card. So i offered to give them my wife's credit card. They had some issues because they should have the passport, the credit card and the driving licence all in the driver's name but eventually they accepted. Only to discover a few minutes later that my wife also had a debit card. So I said no problem, I give yo a cash guarantee. No this was refused - CASH REFUSED!!! After more aggravation I was put on the phone to a manager who only said no can not do anything and informed me that I was not getting the car and that I was not getting a refund on the money paid. A total scam, a rip off!||||We arrived at the B&B on Sunday afternoon and were due to leave on Wednesday morning to carry on with our holiday. Alessandro now gave us details of bus service and told us which places to visit so we can make the most of these few days in spite of the wrong start to this holiday. The moral support these people gave us will never be forgotten. This goes to show how nice it is to be able to give a good service to guests. On Wednesday morning just before we left the hotel Franco cae to me as I made my way downstairs and handed e the DHL envelope containing our new Credit Card which we had ordered urgently from our bank in Malta. I asked Francesco to fix us a taxi to the airport where we could rent a car and continue with our holiday.||Francesco confirmed he had booked us a taxi as we requested. We got our luggage down from the room and as we approached reception desk, Alessandro arrived at the door. To our great amazment, Alessandro decided to cancel our taxi and he drove us personally in his personal car to the airport for which he refused payment. Yes Alessandro took us to the airport personally free of charge. These people could not be any kinder.
