The fact that we were unable to find a hotel in the neighbouring areas in France for the night, saw us try the Nazionale for one night. It was also a recent addition to the "Logis Hotels" network and being a big fan of them (you'll have probably noticed that if you read any of my other reviews ;-) ) we decided to give it a go. ||||We reserved the room with only a couple of hours notice by telephone and the person we spoke to was very pleasant and had a very good command of the English language. I don't speak word of Italian so this was a bonus!||||The Hotel is well located, being a short walk from the main "high street" of Vernante and abot 5 minutes walk from the Railway station. Being on the edge of the Alps means that the location is surrounded by mountains and there are good views to be had from most of the rooms. ||||Our room was bright and airy, facing a main road but with a good view of the mountains behind. There wasn't much traffic noise so sleep was not a real problem. The room also had a balcony which was a pleasant suprise.||||The bathroom was functional with a very small bath, not really something you could lie down in unless you were a very small person! However I would not let this detract from the overall high standard of the room. ||||The restaurant was clearly very popular with locals and we managed to get the last vacant table, only by virtue of the fact that we were staying in the hotel. ||||It's fair to say that the menu isn't cheap, 33€ for the set-menu before any drinks. However the quality of the food was simply superb - with the waiters (who spoke excellent english) explaining in detail what all the courses were and their own recommedations. ||||The wine list is where the hotel excels, with it being around 30 pages long if memory serves me correctly. Again the waiters are happy to recommend a wine with each course, and don't necessarily direct you to the more expensive vintages. ||||Breakfast in the morning was a self-service affair, with a range of cakes, chesses and pastries. ||||All in all a very pleasant hotel and if I found myself in the area again I would...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel for two nights while skiing in Limone. I think this is an excellent alternative if you can’t find a hotel in Limone.||||It is just outside of Limone (a few minutes away) and easy to get to. We found plenty of free parking so this was not an issue. ||||I was traveling with my girlfriend and our 3-year-old son so we needed an extra bed. The first night we had the larger Family Room but we had to move the second night to a smaller room due to a booking error. If you are traveling with your family, I would strongly recommend that you reserve the larger Family Room. Not only will you have two rooms but the Family Room was much nicer (more modern) and quieter. Another plus is that Wi-Fi coverage is much better on the 1st floor (second floor for Americans) because we had no signal on the higher floors. (I resorted to sitting in the lobby to be able to connect to the Internet – service there was much better.)||||We had dinner the second night at the hotel (this town is small and without too many options) and we were happy both with the service and the food. The restaurant is also popular with the locals. I think prices were decent. Breakfast buffet was included with our stay and it provided plenty of options to fill us up and to keep us energized during our skiing.||||The staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful (especially the brothers running the hotel) during our stay. I would have no problems...
Read moreI booked the Albergo Nazionale on a motorcycle trip from Italy's Mediterranean coast towards Turin. The whole place Vernante is enchanting, a homage to the draftsman of the Pinocchio illustrations provides a charming touch throughout the place, as these drawings are found as large murals on buildings and walls. The Hotel Albergo Nazionale is a spot located directly on the through road (still quiet!!!) from/to Limone Piemonte, a high-quality dedicated restaurant and a small bistro-bar belong to the house. I went to the aperitivo in the cafe across the street (on the same side of the street), just relaxing the whole environment. My room was (although still "old wing") nice and big, there was a good bathroom. I would like to describe the breakfast as a nice highlight, apart from good coffee, you get everything you need or want in the buffet style. Parking at the hotel was possible without any problems with the motorbike. The entire staff was very friendly. If you want to make a stop in a somewhat "sleepy place", you will not be disappointed. I would book the Albergo...
