Ok let’s get the issues out of the way that others have raised in their reviews. |1. Location. |Yes it’s 3km out of town up a mountain on very twisty narrow roads with hairpin bends if you’re driving. Free off road parking. Nice drive and great views on the way. |If you’re using the bus it stops outside the hotel and is very cheap. €1.50 to the train station. |On the plus side great views, lovely warm welcome nothing is too much trouble for the team here. |If you are a good walker and like hills you’ll love this place. |There’s a pizza and pasta restaurant next door, two bars within 50 feet. Small supermarket about 300 metres away. |2. Noise. |Yes you can hear some traffic but you would if you stayed in town or in the more expensive Sorento or in the hotels on the main roads along the coast. |I agree with others the walls are thin and you can hear everything in the rooms next door, above and below but your not paying Ritz Carlton prices. |3. Views. |The rooms have a balcony and good views not perfect views on the first floor but you can see the sea and the bay of Naples. I’m sure the higher floors have better vistas. |4. Yes there’s a pool and sun beds it’s not an Olympic pool just the right size however if your holiday is just about a pool and swimming lengths try elsewhere but if you just want to relax and have a dip this is a good venue. ||More positives. ||The staff are very friendly, courteous and helpful most are at least bilingual if not trilingual. ||Breakfast is decent a reasonable selection and hot drinks are brought to your table to order. ||Parking is off road and very safe. ||It’s a safe and relaxing place. ||There’s a good restaurant next door with superb views and reasonably priced food large pizza from €6. ||Couple of bars and a supermarket locally. |The bus to town and the railway station stops outside the church opposite the hotel. Trains to Sorento October 2019 €2 each way take about 10 minutes. ||Good location for Pompeii and Herculaneum as well as Sorento and the area. ||We stayed 7 nights so had a good it of weekday and weekend to base our review. ||At the expense of repeating myself lovely staff. Thank you...
Read moreLovely quiet B&B up in the hills above Vico. Excellent pool area with gardens and quality sun loungers. Smart outdoor and indoor dining areas for breakfast or daytime drinks. The pool is fab by the way. Pictures don't really do it justice. It's nice and deep and lovely and refreshing. ||L'Ulivo itself is situated in a small town with a few nice restaurants and a supermarket. The pick of these would be the Pescheria which gets extremely busy. Handy ice cream / cafe close by but no sandwiches or snacks. Typically we ate lunch at Da Giovanni next door or went into town. Bus to town and back can vary in frequency from 30 minutes to 2 hourly. This may change though when the Funivia bus is back up and running. Walk to town is simple if you don't do the bus. 2 flights of steps, then head diagonally right to the main road, through the gate opposite and keep going down. No need to walk on the busy main road just continue down the little paths and steps. Getting back is a bit more of a challenge but the bus runs regularly up the hill and it's best to get this from the bus / train station if you want a seat. ||Getting around Campania is also very easy. Pompeii & Sorrento not far using the train and very cheap. We did Capri but sailed from Vico Marina rather than Sorrento. Final day we took the pre-booked Curreri Viaggio bus back to Naples airport which was quick and comfortable and then took the alibus into the city (quick and not so comfortable) to grab the best pizza I have ever eaten. ||Finally a shout out to the staff at L'Ulivo. Super friendly and really made sure we had a nice holiday. ||Ciao,...
Read more😊: We loved the spacious room with the beautiful sea view from the balcony. And the most comfortable bed. The wonderful staff who made us feel so welcome. Maria Angela, Gina and Francesco. Also the cleaning staff who cleaned our rooms everyday. Breakfast and the pool were a huge bonus, especially for the younger members of the family. The hotel is situated high up a hill overlooking the beautiful town of Vico Equense, there was a regular bus service down to the town, and train station, where you could get a train to Sorrento pompeii or Naples. Da Giovanni restaurant was a short walk from our hotel where we dined every night at a very reasonable price. There is also a gelato and supermarket nearby , we are looking forward to coming back to L’ulivo resort in the future.. 😢: What we didn’t like, was that our stay was...
