We loved this place. It is located 5-10 min. car ride from central Abashiri.||||Our room had a beautiful view onto Abashiri Lake. The twin bedded room (about 120cm wide each?) was not large but good enough for our one night stay. It was without bathroom but with a decent shower booth with functions (but we did not use it). Nothing luxurious but charming with local touch of decoration. ||||Open-air public bath with view as well as indoor bath. Both pleasant. Not so large.||||Dinner at the in-house restaurant was very & very good. Basically French with Japanese ideas. Refined and quite vegetalian with excellent seafood. Local Japanese sake was also good. Breakfast like-wise delicious. The room had a fantastic view on Lake Abashiri and was very convenient, clean and with two separate beds, and a shower. The auberge is full of antique furnitures, photos from another time and a lot of other old items so that it's almost a little museum. The employees were exceptionally friendly. As we had to take the train every morning very early and couldn't therefore have breakfast at the auberge, they especially prepared for us lunch boxes every day instead.
