Ashinomaki Grand Hotel — Hotel in Aizuwakamatsu

As with many other Japanese hotels, the Grand Hotel is pretty charmless to look at from the outside. However, these hotels are designed to offer lovely views from the hotel, and the Grand Hotel was no exception. From our Japanese tatami room, we had a great view of the adjacent river and the lovely autumnal colours.||||The hotel is now getting a bit frayed around the edges and it really seems time for a makeover. The carpets and many of the other fixtures and fittings are all getting slightly tired. The other hotels adjacent to the Grand Hotel are much plusher but are also probably a bit more expensive. ||||The highlight of the hotel was the outside onsen (Japanese bath). ココに来るまでの道沿いのホテルがなかなか老舗というか年季の入った建物ばかりでちょっとドキドキしましたが、こちらは新しいのかリニューアルしてるのかとても綺麗で一安心（笑）

一風呂浴びたあとの夕食は泊まる部屋とは別の個室にて頂きました。 和室ですがテーブル席なのがありがたい♪

目の前の西京焼き、馬刺し、茶碗蒸し、もずく酢などなどを摘みつつビールを飲み、追って加熱系の牛しゃぶやらアワビの鉄板焼きやらに舌鼓…

特にアワビは絶品！ 好きでも嫌いでもない食材の1つですが、こちらで食べたものは、とても柔らかくレモンバターソースの味もよくとても美味しく頂けました(´﹃｀)

お刺身はマグロ、甘エビ、サーモン、ホタテにカニ♪ カニは食べやすい状態だったのがありがたかったです（笑） 予約してくれた母によると、こちらのオーナーさんだか料理長さんだかが新潟出身の方？で、お魚はこだわって新潟の方から仕入れてるとのこと。(母からのざっくりな情報なので間違ってたらすいませんw)

ちびチー様用の食事もハンバーグやチキンライス、うどん、エビフライなど子供が好きな物が盛りだくさん！ 特にミニアメリカンドッグがお気に入りのようでした（笑）
