You will enjoy genuine hospitality at Beniya, a traditional Japanese onsen ryokann (hot spring guesthouse in the Japanese style). A complimentary shuttle transfer can be arranged in advance from either the JR or Echizen Tetsudo stations. We were greeted by a driver who was waiting at the station. At least five staff greeted us with bows as soon as we arrived at Beniya's entrance. We were shown to our room by a welcoming room attendant, who also helped us check in, saving us from going to go to the reception. It also applied to checking out. Okamisan (general manager) visited us a couple of times to welcome us to our room. It was great to have a room with a Japanese garden and an onsen bathtub. Read moreThis is the perfect place to see and experience the traditional Japan and Japanese hospitality. Very friendly and attentive staff. The Japanese-style rooms are spacious and furnished with sliding doors, rice straw mats and bath with water directly from hot springs. The food too gives a good impression of traditional Japanese cuisine. From the lobby you get a nice view onto a Japanese-style garden landscape with a pond. I liked to sit there and to relax while letting my eyes wander through the garden and enjoying a cup of tea or coffee. All in all, this is one of the best places I've stayed at during 36 years of repeated...
Read moreWords cannot describe the experience we had at Beniya for 2 nights. The place is owned by a family in its 7th generation and we were welcomed by the owner herself and some of her kids who were super friendly. We opted for the traditional room and meals to have the real Japanese experience and no regrets here! Our room had its own onsen which we enjoyed both in the mornings and evenings after a long day in Tokyo and Kanazawa. We look forward to...
