We booked this pension instead of ryokan or big hotels around Kawaguchi Lake to avoid the crowd of new year holidays. When we arrived Kawaguchiko station, there was a long queue waiting for the sightseeing bus. However the bus to the pension was at a different bus stop and only a few people were waiting, so there was no problem carrying our luggages to the pension village. We checked in at around 4 pm and were told that there was no restaurant or convenient store around, so we have to asked them for dinner. Then we went out to the lake. The bus run every hour so we had to walk around 1-2 km to the lake to take photos and come back by bus. The dinner at the pension was surprisingly delicious. I normally don't like "healthy food" but have to admit I love every single dish at the pension. And the price was very cheap. The room was small but cozy and there were collections of DVDs and videos (which was very cool) that you can borrow to watch at your room. The staffs including cats were very nice...
Read moreBooked a 2 night stay last minute with my partner as we were keen to visit lake kawaguchico and the surrounding area and get lovely views of Mt Fuji. This was the best descision We made during our entire trip to Japan. Our hosts (Ken & Rie) were nothing short of exceptional. We were given great advice every day on the best things to do/see and every effort was made to make us feel at home. The cats that wander around freely are adorable! We are Scottish so thought the local food wouldn't be to our taste but were pleasantly surprised. Every meal we had was healthy and delicious, ranging from local rainbow trout to steak! Ended up staying an extra night we both enjoyed the place so much and even had a wee dram of Japanese whisky with our hosts on our last night. Hope to be back...
Read moreWe decided to go to this pension for sightseeing around lake Kawaguchi-ko in 2006 because we are cat lovers! They have wonderful cats and the owners are very nice people. Problem was public transport is not good around Kawaguchi-ko area and we had to take taxi from station to pension. We took local bus for sightseeing next day but not often they run, so we had to ask for dinner at pension that day. Dinner was French course and every dish was excellent. Room is quite small with twin bed, had to share bath room but we didn't mind with the price. Overall it was relaxing stay but we recommend you to have rent car to go around this area. We returned to this pension this April to say hello to owner and cats but unfortunately they...
