A little slice (pun-intended) of paradise on earth. This bakery, hidden in the Mount-Fuji countryside, delivers some of the best French pastries I've ever had - and I've lived in Paris for 5 years. The baked goods are just amazing. Flaky pain au chocolat, warm baguette, buttery financiers, a proper galette des rois You name it. Everything is just exquisitely made. It's not allowed to take pictures of the interior, but once inside you're transported to Sofia Copolla's Marie Antoinette movie. As kitsch, cute and french as you can imagine. The hospitality and sympathy of the owners was off the charts. We were very tired after a biking day and they provided us with chairs and fresh water. Their apple cake may claim to be king but I would once again suggest it is superb but does not rule them all. However royalty does indeed live in this bakery in the form of the King Kouign Aman. The Kouign Aman that laughs in the face of all other pastries. It's caramel coating crumbles your defense's whilst the perfectly textured pastry finishes the onslaught by catapulting your tastebuds into a realm of the unknown. The owners are obviously dedicated pastry professionals that belong on their own thrones and all us mortals that ride past this godly bakery should definitely stop in to pay tribute, failing to do so, in my opinion constitute a crime of self...

We got a blueberry tart, a kouign aman and a blueberry banana bread. It was tough to choose, everything looked great.
My favourite has to be the kouign aman which came with a torched sugar crust that complemented the buttery flaky croissant well. We had it a day after we bought it too, so it also kept well in the Spring. It was so good that I forgot to take a photo for this review.
