We had a great time at this Ryokan. The staff are very polite and helpful. One guy there does speak English and everyone is very accommodating. We were traveling with an infant and they did provide everything we needed for the baby....a separate baby bath in the onsen, baby dinnerware, extra towels, and they didn't mind that we brought her to meals in the restaurant. ||||The location is perfect. The train is a switchback, but the ride isn't far and doesn't take long to get to the stop (not more than 15 or 20 minutes from Odawara station). The small station of Ohiradai is somewhat off the beaten path and very few people got off/on at our train stop. We loved this as we were looking for a place away from the crowds. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the station. There is a convenience store on the way. We did walk around Ohiradai a little and it is a quiet, pleasant place.||||The restaurant in the hotel was a great experience. I did wish that we had done a little research on how to eat some of the things presented to us. There was no explanation of what things were or how to eat them. We certainly didn't mind but just something to note. We had dinner one night and breakfast was included in our rate.||||We didn't mind the shared bathroom, I rarely saw another person in the bathroom when I was there. I believe there are under 10 rooms in the Ryokan, so not too many people to share with.||||The onsen was great....we were able to have about an hour a day of private use. They did provide the baby her own baby bath. There is an inside and outside partition of the onsen.||||Wifi is available in the hotel...spotty in our room but available in the lobby.||||I would certainly recommend this place and if we are ever back in the area I wouldn't hesitate to...
Read moreTraditional Japanese ryokan run by a lovely family. Very friendly and welcoming service. The owner speaks basic English and we’re able to communicate, his wife doesn’t speak English but tried to help, very pleasant and warm.|We booked the room with an open bath, the room is exceptionally big with Japanese decorations. The decorations and facilities are detail-oriented, it was fun to explore the tiny surprises around the place.|The price is absolutely worthy comparing to the other hotels in the central Hakone. The location is convenient enough for me and is good to avoid the crowd. Short walking distance to both the bus stop and railway station, then generally you can reach anywhere in Hakone. |Thanks for making my Hakone...
Read moreWe spent two days in Umimoto in December to enjoy the region of Hakone and Onsen.||Our tatami room was modest, comfortable and clean. Dinner, breakfast and private Onsen are included into the price of your stay. The menu is traditional and delicious filled with pricey ingredients. Stuff is very polite and considerate. Overall it feels like you spend some time in a very nice traditional Japanese home! If you like to experience other cultures you would really...
