If you are planning your first Hakuba ski trip, my reviews may help you to address some questions. The airport has direct buses to Hakuba valley. It is way easier than taking JR… There is one bus call Jamjam bus. It has one bus departure from NRT airport at 420pm, but you need to google snowliner to book the bus. The drop off location selects Tsugaike parking lot. You can message the hotel owner to pick you up at the drop off location. The breakfast is included and serve at 7:30am. The staffs will give you a ride to the Tsugaike or Iwatake resorts around 830am and pick you up around 4:20pm. Uber app works here but I average spent 20mins to connect to a driver. If you are going to rent a car, they have parking space s. The V2 bus cost 800yen per person. This bus connects all the resorts in the valley. The owner also offer ski snowboarding gear rental. The shared bathroom can be reserved. You put your room number on the white board everyone will know you are using it. So, don’t worry about the shared bathroom. I booked the room with the bathtub, but I ended up used the shared one. It feels home. Dinner: take uber taxi to restaurants but average 20mins to connect with a driver. Order delivery. Buy from convenience stores. The 7-11 in Japan is different than what we have in the U.S. it sells daily fresh food, all kinds of microwave food, desserts. This place really feels like home. When you get off your bus, you have your family pick you up from the station to your home. Finish your breakfast and someone sends you to the resorts. Hang out in the living room and enjoy your drinks cookies desserts before your dinner or...
Read moreAmazing and friendly staff who went above and beyond. For example, I told the owner that I love eggs Benedict and his wife made me some for breakfast one day. What’s even better is his wife’s cooking is amazing!!! So flavorful. The owner also gives local recommendations for restaurants and activities. He truly went above and beyond and drove us to each hike we did and even picked us up from the hike and then drove us to dinner. That was very kind of him since the booking states that it only allows for one pickup and drop off per day. He was able to do this since other guests were attended to and he had extra time. Truly the definition of going above and beyond. Before and after our hikes he would also make sure if we had enough food and if we needed to stop by a grocery store or convenience store to pick up sandwiches for the next day’s hike.
The place is also very clean, no dust. The owner even cleaned the shared shower after each person’s shower. The hotel is also very cozy and feels like my grandma’s home, very warming...
Read moreNestled in the impressive mountain range of the Japanese Alps is where you’ll find nature & sanctuary at the Hotel Powder Republic. The service is exceptional, and the owners truly go above and beyond. The owner, Alan is an avid outdoorsy adventurer. His insights and knowledge of what to do and where to go is a wealth of information that ensures your experience in Hakuba is top notch. Since we didn’t have a car, Alan provided transportation for our arrival and departure. He also drove us to from trailhead hikes (added bonus). Alan delivers quality service for his guests and in general is a very nice gentleman. The kinda guy you want to go on a hike with, or snowboarding or just kick it at the pub. The Inn has good sized rooms that are clean and spacious. And the breakfasts were super delicious. Alan’s wife incorporated seasonal vegetables and fruits that made each meal special and flavorful. Thanks to the Hotel Powder Republic, my first trip to Hakuba was so memorable that I...
