Wonderful stay!! Took my son on an 18th bday trip to Japan and we came from The Prince Autograph Collection Marriott banner hotel stay in Kyoto for four nights to Izu. We pulled up in our rental car (train Kyoto to Mishima & rental at Mishima station) and the staff rushed out to gather our luggage from us and even parked our vehicle for us. We were ushered to check in desk and were treated so well! (I’m Titanium Bonvoy so taking advantage of the perks) The staff had emailed in advance to inquire about our booking and confirmed we didn’t need a pet friendly suite, which we had booked due to price and limited offerings in Japan of two bed suites; and then at check in advised us we had been upgraded to a Mt Fuji facing room with a private onsen on the deck. We thanked the front desk staff for this kind gesture and how it would make my son’s bday trip that much more special. After the staff brought us and our luggage to the room, we settled in to check out our space and less than 5-10 mins later heard a knock on the door and were so delighted to have an employee bring in a triple high tray of custom sweets & chocolates with a Happy Birthday message on it. What a special touch and the birthday man was speechless as the staff asked for a camera and captured the moment for us! Very thoughtful and hats off to the team at this hotel for the hospitality & quick thinking in this welcome gift. We enjoyed our complimentary access to the club lounge to enjoy the food offerings & take in the great selection of self serve cocktails & other beverages. Lounge wasn’t the newest I’ve been in but was well stocked, with staff circling to clear dishes as needed and the food was A+. Views in the lounge look out onto the mountain range and Mt Fuji. We caught the breathtaking colours of the sunset and enjoyed ourselves. Retreating to the room, the private Onsen is such A nice amenity and especially with Japanese style robes offered for use in the room. Decor is modern & earth toned which suits the locale. Beds and bedding were super comfortable! Breakfast buffet is first class and the best I’ve had at a Marriott.. to the point that I wish our stomaches were larger to try more of the selection. Overall very impressed, great stay and would recommend to anyone wanting great service, a quiet peaceful getaway or those who love golf (right beside hotel).
Unfortunately only one night due to our travel plans but we contemplated extending a night it was so nice there; even though we would have sacrificed the cost of our next hotel night destination. Thanks to the Izu Marriott team for such a special...
